When you say "launch" an A4 car, I sure hope you're not thinking about revving it in neutral and slamming it in gear...

pending on the mods, and your tires(which you want to heat up) hold the brake pedal down and hold the gas down to about 1300 rpms with the trans IN GEAR and the ASR(traction control) off. when you "launch" let off the break and stomp on it. it takes practice man, but never, and i say NEVER rev the engine in neutral and **** in gear. you will screw some **** up.

Yeah neutral drops are a Also, there is no need to shift your car manually, like I hear some people do. If you are going to race, put it in Drive(not overdrive), and it wont shift into overdrive. There is no advantage in shifting the shifter from 1 to 2 to etc... unless you have a shift kit.

ya with a stock A4 on street tires you can only stall it up in gear to about 1300rpms maybe but me i have BFG drag radials and i can stall it up to about 1500rpm. but when you get a stall you will be able to stall it up to maybe 2500-3000 rpm depending on what size stall converter you get. A torque converter from what i have heard is the best mod you can do to an A4.
hope this helps

Your not going to heat up Z rated tires, so skip the big burnout unless you have drag radials.

^^^ when you pull the e-brake that only controls the rear wheels, so you were locking the rear brakes and then flooring it?? for future advice dont do that.

Was totally unaware of this, guess my prestaging a the strip was just a waste of rubber And while true nothing shifts faster than an auto, M6 cars are just fun as hell.

You still want to spin the tires a bit to get any dust and stuff off, but yeah, heating of the tires isn't going to get you anymore traction.

I was in no way thinking of reving in neutral and dropping it into gear with an A4 tranny, i should of stated it alot clearer in that, sorry for any confusion and thank you for all the input.

+1. i love my M6 for driving, but if i were going to race frequently id just rather have an A4. definitely more consistant and quicker (when stalled).

This is not true. Starting in manual first actually raises the pressure in the transmission to give a firmer shift.

Ya keep telling yourself that..and let me know after you get back from the transmission shop just cause you wanted a "firmer shift"...nonsense.

Be safe and get a shiftkit that will raise the pressure in your tranny in a much safer way.
