Default are trans am formula/ws6 good daily drivers

i want a new car, and i'm stuck between 99 01 cobra or a trans am formula or ws6. the major thing i've heard about trans ams are that they are uncomfortable, seated way to low, built terrably cheap (rear ends and interior majorly) and have terrable blind spots? these comments are probobley bias due to them being made in a cobra forum so i want a diffrent side

thanks for any help

well, u answered ur own question, biased! Actually though u are correct about the rears, not the strongest things in the world, but for DD they are perfectly fine and u really only need to worry if ur gonna throw alot of Hp at it and are constantly at the track. as far as the interiors are concerned, yes the 01 cobra will have alitle nicer interior as ford seems to spend more time on thiers, but between an 01 cobra and a TA, well thiers no comparison in power, i would say unless its on 03/04 cobra, then definatly get the TA! Hell, my heavy vert beats up pre-03 cobras.

i was in the same dilema as you a year ago i almost bought a 99 cobra, and i didnt, i am very glad. the 99 cobra has a Independent rear that i heared is weaker than f-body 10 bolts,Firebirds are very comfortable i love it and some of my mustang buddies have complemented on the comfort, especially when you lean the seat way back,i could just fall asleep, anyway Ls1 have a awsome power potencial with just a few bolt ons ,and get pretty good gas mileage, get a firebird and make sure you get a 6speed car you will love the **** out of it and wonder how you have been living without. I hope this helps

comfortableness is subjective, go drive one to see if your comfortable. its the most comfrotable car i've owned, blindspots? not to bad, just like any car. Rears are gay, besides that they are fairly bullit proof. If you were to get a cobra, go 03/04, not before that. The engine are outragously expensive to fix and rare. for what benefit? the same amount of power froma lt1?...lol

This ususally isnt an issue to people who buy F-bodies or Cobras, but the LS1 gets awesome gas mileage. If your commute is mostly highway, you will actually save money on gas.

anywhere you go you will get biased answers. having been in both, i can honestly tell you that T/A's and Formulas make wonderful daily driven cars. blind spots dont pose much of a problem. like any car you get used to it after a few weeks. 99-01 Cobras are nice, but often a lot more than an LS1 and in the end probably slower too. i say test drive both and it just comes down to personal preferance. both are great cars.

After market companies don't make parts especially for Trans Ams. The only parts they do make especially for Firebirds are exterior parts (hood, etc.) and different ram air setups (BGRA, etc.) than Camaros. Other than that, all after market parts are made especially for f-bodies (Camaros & Firebirds) because they have the same engine, tranny, rear end, etc. Hope this helps!

P.S. There isn't going to be any shortages any time soon on parts. The LSx world is a money machine when it comes to selling parts.

ive daily driven an f-body since 1999, i personally think they have less blind spots than most cars and are easier to drive than most cars (provided you can handle RWD in the rain). This is coming from someone who works at a large car dealership and has pretty much driven everything there is between GM, Nissan, Toyota, Scion, DCX. With the exception of a few cars costing 3x-4x what an LS1 cost, its the most fun, fastest, and overall best daily driver i can think of, sometimes when i get into say.....a 1.8L Sentra or 2.5L Altima or Cobalt LS or something, i want to shoot myself because the car performs that poorly.

2 TAs over 7 years now and NO COMPLAINTS at all. 1 M6 and currently a A4 with a 4K stall converter. I would like to get a beater ,but only to save miles on the TA.

I have my camaro and my daily driver. However, the daily driver only comes out on rare occasions anymore The camaro is just too much fun and is more than comfortable enough to daily drive, hmmmm maybe I should sell my daily driver for more parts for the camaro.......
