Default LS1 vs LT1

Why do LS1's make more power than comparably set-up LT1's or old school 350 Chevy's? I heard it has something to do with the individual coil's.

LT1s can make just as much power if setup right.

Example

Technology. The coils are the least of the diffrences. Head/cam/intake design are the major improvements.

convert your LT1 F-body to a LS1 or sell and buy a LS1 F-body. LS1 is BETTER Dont be in denial, end of story.

Much of the difference is in This Paper describing the development of the LS1.

First, there have been a dozen topics on this in the last 6 months I'm sure. Second, this kind of topic usually creates a small war, are you a troll trying to start ****?

you've already gotten the answer, it's all in the heads. That's why when someone posts about making more power the people that have been at this hobby for awhile will say to spend on the heads. They are the most responsible component for getting air into the motor. You can see LSx heads into the mid 350 cfm range fairly often, it's somewhat rare to see a LT1 head in the 300 cfm range.

Quite frankly by the time these cars are going FI for big power it really doesn't matter.

Also, as mentioned previously, this is not "advanced tech".

Co-sign...the LS1 is the natural evolution of the SBC. It's all the knowledge that GM had gained up until that point in time put together into one package. Same thing when the LT1 first came around. But think about this...once the heads come off and the cam comes out, its anyone's game. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the fastest LT1 and the fastest LS1 are only like a tenth second behind each other, FI and N/A.

I had a 97 SS shorty headers and ran it against the 35th anniversary SS. I beat that SS but he was at my door.. So we did it again and still took him out. Both cars are fast and the engines are great but we all know the difference in this 2 engines is the LS1 is the upgraded version of the LT1. The LS1(346) has aluminum block, heads, coil packs, different intake, aluminum driveshaft and different design than the LT1. LT1(350) has a iron block which weighs more, Iron driveshaft and some more differences. I already had my share of the LT1 and belive it or not I would take out LS1 like nothing but I would also loose to some LS1's and they would take me out like nothing. Point is both this engines are great but whoever has more time and money invested in their engines wins the race. Remember "There is always somebody faster than you"

Both The LS1 and LT1 Are Awsome Period!!!!! And They Both Chevrolet!!!!!!
