Default upgrading to 17x9 WS6 rims

right now, I have the factory 16 inch rims on my 98 ta, but my question is that what if I get a set of WS6 rims, will it make my speedometer inaccurate by changing the rim size?

no, not if you get 275/40-17's, same size outer diameter as 245/50-16 so revolutions stay the same, speedo keeps right on chuggin along, multiple experiences help me answer this accurately

What is a speedometer? Is that that oversized guage on the right that my passengers always point at and babble about excitedly?

Seriously, +1 to Silva.

NO!!!

Please don't pass that incorrect info along. It will only confuse people.

17X9 with 275/40/17 tire size has the exact same overall diameter as 16X8 wheels with 245/50/16 tires. No need for any tuning!!!

what they're saying is it's not the size of the rim that matters, it's the size of the rim WITH the tire.
16x7 rim with a 245/50/16 tire should be the same diameter as a 17x9 with a 275/40/17 tire. therefore no, you do not need to recalibrate.

hope that helps.

You currently have 16X8" wheels (if you have the stock wheels).

You DO NOT need to re-tune. I promise you this. Here is how I know:

My '98 Z28 came with the same size stock wheels as your car (16X8). I put SS wheels on the car (as seen in my sig) which are the same size (17X9) as the WS6 wheels you want to get. I did NOT need to retune or change anything. Just put 'em on and drive away. Nothing else is needed.

Again, the overall diameter is the same with a 245/50/16 (stock on the T/A or Z28) tire or a 275/40/17 (stock on a WS6/SS) tire.
