What thermostat to get?

If you are going to change the stat I would stick with stock or maybe a 180. Aluminum loses heat quickly (thermal efficiency) and you need some heat in the combustion chambers to keep things running optimally. I personally like 180 stats, but I like in hot, humid Louisiana.

Both fans run simultaneously on my car, either on low or high speed, and you need an on/off temp for each setting. Set mine at 184/175 and 194/185. I can see my high speed fans kick on and off according to temp, even with the AC on in summer.

IMO, a stock to bolt-on LS1 shouldn't be run any colder than 190F for best overall results.
