We're WAAAAAYY off topic now! But since you've asked, I believe it might have originated from the slave owner's poor white "foremen" cracking the whip on the slaves, hence "cracker". I'm not positive on this, but it's as good as any explanation. Like most racial slurs (of ANY kind directed to ANY people) though, it's kind of stupid to call a caucasian this if his family was not even in this country until 50+ years after slavery was aboblished, and was NEVER from the south at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I know someone will) but a 350cid engine needs 350 cubic inches of air (ignoring fuel) to fill the cylinders every 2 revolutions (4 strokes). At 6000RPM that's 1,050,000 cubic inches a minute. 1050000/1728 (cubic inches in a cubic foot)=607CFM. That's a big fan just to fill the cylinders with no boost. I don't see having an electric fan that small doing the job without taking more power to run than it creates.

It's an interesting idea from an engineering point of view. Especially if you considered using a speed controller to vary the pressure based on power demand.

 

Electric supercharger... feasible yes, but theres nothing out there that can feed a high volume of air at a higher psi. Dont even bother looking into one now. Maybe in 20 years they will have electric superchargers in hybrids.

 

I've heard of the eram electric supercharger that's suppose to give you 1-2 pounds of boost. They only tested it on ricers!!!!
