Z06/LS6 Manifolds
I guess this is newbie tech, it is to me anyway. I am going to be installing a set of these on my LS1 when I finally get around to buying. My question is, is there a way to tell the difference from the LS1 versions? Does anyone have the part number for these? I have my eye on a few sets of and was wondering if there is a way I can just look at them and see the differences.
Thanks for any help.

If you buy a crate motor, or a motor out of a '01-02 car, it will already have the LS6 intake on it.
Biggest way to spot the difference is that the LS1 intake has an opening in the front for the EGR tube, and the LS6 intake doesn't.... although now aftermarket companies like SLP are selling a LS6 intake with the EGR hookup.

I just assumed you guys could read my mind. I thought everyone could read minds.
I was thinking exhaust manifolds when I was typing the thread. I am trying to keep the initial install as easy as possible. I may later try to see what I can come up with for long tubes.

Okay, I snagged a set of 2001 Z06 exhaust manifolds for a $45 shipped. I am happy with that. What can you guys tell me about them. What are they made of? How big is the exhaust outlet? I am planning on smooting out the inside and maybe trying to port them some if it can be done at home. I may spend the money and get them coated locally.

You can get a set of coated pacesetters for like $430. They fit great, and are very easy to install. But thats just my .02

I looked at Pacesetter and at this time there is no listing for headers that fit when installing an LS1 motor in a 1970 Corvette. I feel that these my be a custom fit at this time.
Anyone know about the stock Z06 manifolds? I am just trying to satisfy my curiosity while I wait on them to be delivered. Thanks for any and all help.

well the LS6 manifolds flow better, but as far as specs I don't know what they are. I hear they were better in the 02-04 years as well.
You could portmatch the manifolds to the gaskets, and clean up the cast material, but I wouldn't spend any $$$ coating them unless your set on keeping them.
that said, you could make 400whp with a cheater cam and some ported heads with the LS6 manifolds.

I like the sound of 400 rwhp. That would be pretty nice. On the not so nice side, it seems I bought the less desireable manifolds. Oh well, gotta make the best of what you got. I will be happy for a little while anyway.

I would be willing to settle for less than that. Right now I am at about 250 RWHP and 300 RWTQ. Right off the bat, I should be quite a bit better than that. Plus I will not have to deal with adjusting the carb and timing every season.
