Default Shop near me selling flowmasters for $99

So a shop near me has a sign "Flowmasters for $99", so i think to myself its too cheap to be true. I havent stopped by yet and i doubt it includes the full kit, or if it does the labor must be $200 or so.

Whats yalls opinions on this? I'm thinking to myself if it really is a full exhaust system then its either used or sounds like crap.

Flowmaster 80 series are terrible...sound better but are more restrictive than stock...so everyone says. Check out magnaflows or TSP.

not to be a dick but they do not flow worse than a stock muffler the gains are just not as big as the straight through designs.that is were a cutout is used

Basically the stock muffler flows better then the flowmaster, yea the flowmaster will sound better but you might loose a few ponies by switching, and the 80 bux is probally for just the muffler

Im not sure, ive heard it flows bad, but I was answering the guys question on "what does it mean if its more restrictive?" IDK if it flows better or worse, but I do know there are better catbacks out there with ALOT better gains.

BELOW IS WHAT I WROTE MY RESPONSE TO ANSWERING HIS QUESTION, and used what the other guy said so it would make sense

STARZ is right i would stick with a stock catback and an E-Cutout ANYDAY over a lousy flowmaster. They are basically a big disappointment and a waste of money because later down the road your gonna want something better.

Get a real exhaust system....

they are other systems that flow better, however they are much louder.flowmaster has been around for years the catbacks are good qaulity and fit real good and have the best sound IMO.ive had flowmaster on almost every vehicle ive owned and never had a problem.if you do go with an 80 series which im sure you wont because everyone here bashes it all to hell.just add a cutout if you race the car.most cat backs net you 10-15hp because they are all straight through meaning chamberless.the 80 series is a 3 chamber muffler of course its not gonna flow as well as a borla or any other straight through muffler, but for the money and sound its hard to beat JMO.the flow may net you 3-5 over stock.anything is better than stock.if you want the flow sound have a 1 chamber welded in they flow as good as any muffler out .
the 40 series is a 2 chamber design which flows really well.and has a good sound.most people will disagree but most of what they know is heresay ive never seen a dyno proving a loss in power over stock.i have 40 series on all 3 of my cars and all 3 cars are very fast.and sound good

Not everyone buys a muffler cause it is loud, if that was the case we would put fart cans on all our fbody's.

Maybe a single chamber flowmaster, but i probably would get a Borla XR-1

Flowmaster's are more for trucks IMO.

my friend has flowmasters on his 94 camaro and it sounds so good, not so loud but has a really deep tone. dunno what series he has though

$99 for a minimal HP gain + sound is worth it imo, since im on a budget :S

I too like the sound of Flowmaster, but the power gains just aren't there with their crossflow series mufflers.
