I been working a the local pennzoil for years now part time while Im getting through college i been using the 5w30 bulk oil in my car for years. Just did a cam swap and my engine lookes so clean I would eat off of it.

theres some great info in here I think it really depends on your own personal experiences with different oil and how your current oil has been treating you (well your engine) and how much you expect out of your oil vs. what your willing to pay every so often... just my $.02

I just went to Auto Zone last night and was looking for the German Castrol Syntec 0W - 30. Given that I'm not 100% sure what it looks like, I was able to find Castrol Syntec 0W-30 in a black container that said "European Formula". I presume this is the right stuff? Anyone have a picture of a quart of GC?

Don't believe this bullshit. I am on my fourth f-body, Mobil-1 10w30 in all of them. No issues.....none. Also 235000 miles on a 99 Z71. Still no oil burning or use between changes. Oh yes, plus a '98 vette with 100k miles, and no issues with oil. I'm sure there are better oils, but it has worked for me all these years. Mobil did not make any significant changes when Exxon bought them.

Well I have a 91 Suburban with 238000 miles and it has never even had synthetic in it. In fact for the first 200000 miles, it had whatever the local oil change place was shoveling and it does not burn any either. Does not mean i will be putting that stuff in my car, boat, or motorcycle. It now get the high mileage Valvoline.

Barium 0
Calcium 3177 (nice!)
Magnesium 46
Moly 42
Phosphorus 732

11.0 cst at 100c
Viscosity Index 171
TBN 3.98
This is my first run with PP, and I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’s not quite as good as GC in the wear department, but the silicon level is a bit higher too, so that could account for some of the wear.
I definitely recommend this oil to LS1 owners!

If you change your oil every 3K, it really doesn't matter. Patman will tell you that. All the big sponsors will tell you that.
