Was that a burnt disk or a "real" store bought offical copy?

The Monsoon head units seem to only like a select types of CD/RW's

I've had this problem a few times. I cleaned the Monsoon unit and it worked fine after that. (For ones that were previously playing) I've also noticed that I've had problems when I burned CDs with Nero.

another thing is..the cd player keeps making noise even when the car is turned off..It sounds as if it were playing a cd or as if you were switching tracks.

My 12 disc changer has played every cd I put in it. The majority of them have been burned discs. Some have less bass than a normal cd but that's the cd not the player. Get you a cheap aftermarket cd player.

My CD player works fine until about the 3rd or 4th song, then starts skipping and doesn't work.

Ya just get a new radio that plays mp3's that way you can put around 120+ songs on one cd.

I've had this problem for so long. The CD will be playing and when I hit a decent bump in the road it will cut out and a few second later it will read "err" and won't work for several days. BUT, if I eject the cd before it says err and re-insert it it will work again haha. god damn cd player. This is a Monsoon deck btw.

Gentlemen,

Okay, I just picked up a 2000 Z28 with the Monsoon system, and 12-disc changer that I don't even yet know how to remove the disc cartridge from, LOL. The CD player doesn't work at all, gives "ERR." I'm certainly gonna just get a new head unit and scrap the changer, which probably doesn't even work ANYWAYS. My question to you guys, though, is if I go "all new" with audio, will the steering wheel controls still work? I mean, what are my options as far as that goes. I just came out of an '04 Cavalier, and to install aftermarket audio meant a retro-install of the factory headunit, JUST for the whole thing to work properly. Any comments, suggestions?
