Default Having to shift to much

I had a question, i just got dont with my car after doing a pushrod replacement, i replaced all 16 pushrod, 2 of which were bent, so figured might aswell replace all, i used 16 comp chrome moly, well anyways, i drive the car and it just doesnt seem the same, i have noticed i am shifting alot more due to my rpm's revving higher, also i am getting some backfire at high rpms, the gas pedal also seems to be a little difficult to press in, when i first start the car the throttle seems to be a little difficult to press in, like when i do engage the clutch, press the gas and it engages it revvs , any help on to why i am having this problem would be greatly appreciated, all i want is my smooth running formula back, please help

I can't tell you what your problem is. But I would pull the valve covers off and make sure all your rockers are tight. If they are all tight make sure everything looks lined up still etc. I think you got something either loose or misaligned. Odd that your pushrods were bent in the first place.

Ugh yeah, done that. Never bent anything though.

It is possible (likely) you bent a valve too then. If it floated you probably hit a piston and bent the valve and the pushrod. I would guess the two valves that had bent pushrods also have bent valves. I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear.

You have to pull the head to replace valves. No idea on what this might cost to have someone do it for you. I can't think of anyway to check for this other than compression testing.

This is my guess what is wrong. If someone else has any ideas!

You could have smoked the clutch and bent a valve. I can't really tell completely from what you are describing.

thats what i thought, i mean the car definately still has *****, it just isnt the same as before this dilemma, i mean the rpms are revving to quick, which leads me to believe a vacuum leak somewhere i cant seem to find, rocker arms arent tightened all the way, or some other problem

Oh I assumed it ran like crap after you bent the pushrods.

The backfire could be caused by loose rocker or something causing a valve not close. The revving, might be your clutch slipping badly.

I agree with what was said before. Get a compression test done to see if you bent any valves. If your losing a bunch of pressure on the two cylinders that had the bent PR's, then its most likely the valves.
Speed inc. is a sponsor on here. Send them a PM, im sure they can do a compression test for you, if you dont know how to do one yourself.
