Rear End Whines

Just got a 2001 Camaro SS and it already had 4.10 installed. Thing is I can hear the rear end whine. I've heard some people say it means the rear end is going out on an F body but also heard that it happens frequently with 4.10's. I've taken it up to about 115 on the highway and it didn't have any troubles or anything. Just wondering what the whining could be or mean. Also how much to replace, fix, or rebuild. Thanks.

I've got richmond 4.10's and they whine like a ***** at anything above 50mph, they're set up right and everything. You get used to it, plus it's just a friendly reminder that you're driving a performance car

i have motive 4.10's in my car and it starts to whine at about 50 mph as well.. some say its the gear not shimed right, while others say it normal for 4.10's to whine..just get some true-duals w/ bullets and that whine will go away..

Is the whine on accel.? or decel? cuz if it is one of those it is most likely a setup problem, but if you have richmonds its most likely just the gears...but check when the noise is it will help u try and see where to start
