Default Smoke Coming Out @ WOT, Is This Normal?

I've only had my 01' Z28 for about a month, so I've got a long ways to go on learning about the LS1. I got on the innerloop today n I hit it WOT at around 75 MPH, I noticed a little smoke came out the exhaust when I hit it. Is that normal? Also, when I got home, I checked the oil n there was a little smoke that came out when I took the dipstick out. Is that normal also? The oil pressure n tempurature read OK. Do I need to lighten up on the car n not hit it WOT at such high speeds or am I just being paranoid?

Is it modded?
If so, What do you have?.

If so.. Might need to retune.

upgrade to the ls6 pcv system. i had this issue, but i also rebuilt my whole engine (2001 Pontiac Formula LS1-T56,80k miles) i found that i had 4 bad exhaust valve seals, and 2 pistons with bad rings. rebuilt it, new parts, bigger cam, longtube headers, and runs stronger than ever, and smoke free. ls6 pcv is the biggest thing tho.

Blow by is to be expected... but, not a ton. I 2nd the ls6 pcv system, it is far superior to the ls1 style setup and SHOULD take care of that problem.

A LS6 pcv system eh? That sounds good to me, I hope that's all it is, cause the engine only has 19,000 some miles on it. And the guy I bought it from took great care of it n hardly drove it. It runs great, just seeing smoke just isn't something u really wanna' see unless if it's coming from your tires, lol. Thanks every1. I feel more conifident that's all it is.

Heck yeah man, unless the engine is defective, or was sprayed heavily on, there's no way a motor with 19k on it is going to smoke like that. Get that pcv system upgraded, and let us know! Good luck man.

I think a little bit is normal. These cars run rich at WOT, which will cause a little black smoke/soot but I'm not sure that it is enough to notice from the driver's seat. I know that the insides of my Corsa exhaust tips get really black after a weekend of blasting around a road coarse (and the car burns almost zero oil).

I get quite the cloud of smoke when I go WOT on the shift. I have headers and such though without a tune.
