Default What would you guys pay?(First Time LS1-Buyer

1999 Pontiac Firebird/TA - 111k Mi

Ad Text Below

This car has it all.....5.7 ltr - bone stock! - doesn't look like anybody has ever touched it with after market parts. Tires are in great condition. AC blows ice cold, leather doesn't have any rips, interior is in excellent shape. no dents on the outside of this one. Front clip is even in excellent condition too!(most are beat up because people can't see the nose) This is an automatic, but moves out so fast!!!!(some say faster than a manual)

He offered it to me for 6k, what should I look out for? (First time LS1-buyer)

Thanks for any advice, guys. Hopefully i'll be joining you guys in the quest for more horsepower soon.

sounds like a good deal to me. I paid 7200 for mine, and its a 98, and had the same miles 3 months ago, auto as well. Just check everything on it, make sure its quiet on the hwy, tranny shifts good. All fluids look good, etc. Clean title?

There is nothing to "look out for" on an LS1 (98-02) F-Body, unlike an LT1 F-Body. Looks great. If it seems to run well and this is the car you want, buy it before someone else does. **** will need replaced down the road though, like the alternator. It's got 111K on it, but the engine is good for almost twice that, if taken care of at all.

I don't know much about the 4L60E (A4) tranny though. Can't advise you on that.

Default $6k

Thats a good price and just take it for a test drive and make sure it drives good. 111K miles, if well taken care of, isn't anything for an LS1.

FWIW - My nephew just paid 4k for a 98 1LE auto with 160k on it. Beautiful car, SS wheels , Magnaflow exhaust and an awesome aftermarket stereo system. 6k is not a bad buy but 5,500 would be a little safer for you in case you do loose an alternator or something to that nature soon after the purchase.

Thirteen grand? Isn't that a bit expensive for a 98 with that many miles. I wish I had that kind of money to throw around. I know birds go for more but i got my 99 z for 9k with 30k on the clock and it was in great condition and still is.

Oh yeah to the OP thats a decent deal you got for yourself i say test it and buy it!

111k miles considered high miles?!

Maybe on a Ford. Most of my vehicles have been well over 100k. **** I consider 100k relatively low.

But, I'm kind of poor.

I'd offer $5,500 but would probably pay $6000 if he will not come down off the price & it drives/runs good.

I pd $4500 for my 98 camaro w/ 126,000 but it had a couple cosmetic blemishes inside & needed tires.

Heh, only ones that are beat up are from people who don't know how to stop in time

Well as everyone has said 6K is a very fair price. Test drive it and if youw ant to offer him a little less then go for it but if he doesnt budge then id say snag it for that price!

jump on that one. I bought mine for $5500 with 103k on the clock, some parts had to be changed (alternator, water pump, brakes) and some paint blemishes.
