Exclamation Need Some Help, Quick

I own a 98 T/A WS6 with 91000 on the clock. Ive only had it for a couple of months and i already hear a knocking sound in the engine. I dont know exactly what the problem is cause i just took it to the shop today. Depending on what they tell me is wrong, should i keep it stock or should i buy aftermarket stuff. The only reason im thinking of leaving it stock is because of the mileage. Since they are gonna open it up what internal mods could i buy that wouldnt empty my bank account (cams, underdrive pulleys, exhaust). I really need some help on this cause im not sure on what to do. Thanks

it really depends on hwta kind of setup your gonna end up getting....for instance if u go boost ur gonna want lower compression pistons, forged internals, etc. If you dont end up going crazy with mods id go with maybe a head/cam package depending on what your budget is

Turns out one of the valves was messed up and there were several new pushrods, so someone has messed with it before. The heads were sent out to get checked and theyll get back to me.

I'm kinda in the same boat.

I had a ticking noise in the engine and had a shop use a electronic ear.. basically a stethascope to listen for where the sound was really come from.
Second cylinder on the drivers saide was the one doing it.
I dind't have the money to get them to tear it apart, so with help of a friend I took the valve cover off and had a looky.

Turned out that I have 2 bent pushrods in the 2nd cylinder on the drives side, as well as one bent pushrod in the front cylinder.

I replaced them with oem rods and all was good durring the rest of the summer.

Now I've got the ticking noise again, only worse :'(
My dad said it could be cause by a worn rocker arm, or maybe the guides are failing.
I don't know and I'm not about to send the head out to a specialty shop to check the springs, valves, ect, ect @ 125/hour + labour for the local shop to remove and install the head in the first place.

Instead I think I'll just save up 1300 and buy a set of assembled Patriot Stage II heads and ensure EVERYTHING head wise is tip top rather than spending 1000 bucks on say an SLP rocker/spring package + install.
Might as well get 30whp out of the deal too
