alot of times the oil from the filter gets caught on the MAF wires which will throw a code, there is a thread in one of these sections that basically is a bunch of haterade thrown back and forth about these things, im personally still undecided, but until i see absolulty definitive data, then im not pulling mine out, ill just keep it oiled CORRECTLY, with just a light misting

i still use my k&N, i never used a paper one! if oiled properly the k&n will be fine, i also clean my maf once every now and then. i recommend buying the crc MAF cleaner form autozone and cleaning out the MAF to see if that will fix ur code! goodluck

if you oiled a brand-new filter, it is probably too saturated, and oil got on the MAF wires.
if that is the case, see if you can soak up the excess off the filter with some paper towels or shop towels, and get a spray bottle with some denatured alcohol in it and spray down the MAF wires to clean the filter oil off of them (i wouldn't recommend touching the wires at all with a towel/paper towel).
then pull the battery cables for a few mins to reset the code and see if it comes back.

My car came with both paper and K&N. I took out the paper and put the K&N in. It added like 55 horse powers < Not really. The only thing it did is make my intake a **** hair louder, yet it did not throw any codes.
I also cleaned my MAF out when I dropped in the K&N.
