JAAM ram air worth it?
Hi,
I have a 2001 ws6 ram air, and have been looking at ftra, but would like to keep my hood functional.
So is the JAAM ram air worth any power gain?
I hear I will need to change to a K&N filter if I do this, and want to know how to clean them and how often?
Your expertease please...

I would like to see dyno sheets but if it does increase power it wouldnt show on a dyno since the cars not moving. What the Jaam kit does is make it so that instead of only using the two hood inlets you are also using the two lower inlets as well. More air enters and the kit also seals the hood. I have looked into it but just havent felt like buying it yet. Aside from the power gain it may or may not give I like the way it looks when installed. There was another post on it recently and the guy who posted it said he felt a very big difference when nailing the throttle above 65mph.
A K&N filter was my first mod and is great. You only buy it once, a cleaning kit costs $10 and lasts about 7-8 cleans and flows really well while filtering great. To clean it you spray it out with water, rinse it with K&N cleaner, repeat until it looks clean, spray it with oil, let it air dry(dont use an air compressor) and reinstall it.I clean mine with every oil change but its up to you depending on how dusty it gets.

bg ram air worked great in my trans am. i posted in a different thread a while back about how the bg ram air kit helped me walk my cousin. we were both running 105ish mph traps, he was running 12.70s i was running 13.30s give or take. both around the same trap speed. added BG ram air and i pulled him pretty damn good when we would race from then on.
i think i will be getting the JAAM ram air for my formula since it has an OEM ram air hood.

i have it on it my car and i love it, but if you really wanted you could make one yourself, takes the baffels out and the square piece and get you some foam and make it where when you shut the hood it seals and you have a homemade JAAM, i wish i would have done that haha
