trust me get the stall first for sure! And make sure you get a tranny cooler too!! Or do both at the same time! I put the yank ss3600 stall and a custom cam on the car in one long weekend then got it tuned, haha talk about a huge difference it was a new friggin car! Its my daily driver too

Makes it corner like an old buick.

It lets the nose rise quicker for better weight transfer (traction), and loses 15-20 lbs off the nose. I'm in the process of building a low budget street driven dragster. The only reason I told you that is some of us are more hardcore than others so when we say a part is daily driveable (like 3600 and up converters) consider the source. My setup may be entirely unacceptable to others. Depends on what you like and are willing to live with.

Get the stall first. Then do the cam that works with the selected stall.

So for a daily driver is a SS4000 stall too much? I was going to go with a SS3600 but since they are the same price I figured I'd ask. Also would the trans cooler have to differ from those two stalls? I was going to go with a 22,000 GVW cooler. Would it be smarter to step up to a 24,000GVW?

Sorry to thread jack.

For me I didn't think so, but some do. I look at it this way: it may be a little loose down low, but what it does when you lean into it MORE than makes up for it.

I was going to go with a SS3600 but since they are the same price I figured I'd ask.
Again, all I can say is its such a personal preference thing. I went from a Fuddle 3400 2.1 to a PT4000 2.2, and for me its just fine. I live in a smallish town so there isn't alot of stop and go. If I lived in a suburban area I would have gone with a 3600.

Also would the trans cooler have to differ from those two stalls? I was going to go with a 22,000 GVW cooler. Would it be smarter to step up to a 24,000GVW?
Bigger seems to better.

Sorry to thread jack.
Sorry to be an accomplice.

I did alot of research when i was in this same situation and like others have said the best reviews ive heard were the yank 3600's and vig 3200. Definatley get a good cooler and more than likely if you get one of those b&m coolers that are like $60 you're probably going to have to replace the lines where they are clamped alot of people have had trouble with them. Just make sure to do it right the 1st time so you dont have to regret it when you open up youre wallet again to replace a cheap part

The stall you'll need will depend alot on your choice of cam. I was under the impression the stall had to matched to the cam????

It should be, for drag racing the stock cam should be matched to a 3200-3600 converter. The factory trades a lot for emissions and fuel mileage.

It would not be wise to put a cam in before the stall. It would run like *** snot.. And dont forget to get a trans cooler!!! I daily drive my 4000 stall

Lock up. Non lock up will burn up a trans pretty quickly.

I daily drive my vig 3600 with no problems (I mean Daily Drive in snow rain everything) . Vig stall speeds are underrated so at the track it actually flashes to around 4000 rpm. I love it!

So is a SS4000 not a lock up converter? That's what I was going to get but if it doesn't then I guess I'll look into the PT4000
