Mobil1 5w 30 I believe is what GM recommends and most people run but those who are religious about their brands might use anything from German castrol to something called Amsoil I think and various others. Just search and you'll find what you're looking for.

Mine popped at 127K. .. I've known allot of people motors to take a poopy around 130K! When you get close to that mileage is when you STOP modding and screw'n around w/ the car and START saving up for a rebuild.

My dad bought a dodge dakota back in 91 brand new with a 318. The engine lasted over 300,000 miles. He got tired of fixing the truck with parts like the computer going out twice and rearend once, and 2 transmissions went out before finally putting a 727 torqueflite. He got tired of fixing the truck and sold it. The engine still ran good and never had to do anything to it accept minor tune up and changing oil and filters (air and oil) which didn't leak even with as high as miles it had.
I hope my LS1 last as long or longer.

I'm almost at 100K and I have a little valve train noise. I think it's a bent pushroad, but won't know until I get a TPI in the LandCruiser. Since I bought it almost two years ago I only use Royal Purple 5w30 and I am thinking of switching to a 10w40. Only problem is my buddy that works at the GM proving grounds here in AZ says these motors have no problem running upwards of 300K on 5w30 synthetic.

One of my uncles former employees (who is in now charge of the CVT and Vette line - you would cry if you saw what they did to those cars) but he bought my old winter beater that I bought same time I bought the TA. It was a 96 Olds cutlass with 46K on the clock. I put over 80K on her, sold it to my uncle, he put 50K on her, then sold it to the GM cat who just called laughing that the "CUTTY" finally died at 234,000. He's just droppin a new motor in her. BUt on the newer LSx motors, the engineers were told specifically to build a motor that will be "used" and will last our customer no less than 200K miles![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
My TA has like 50K; havent driven her in a while
