I got the same responses months ago when I asked the same thing. Never mind that subpar mpg could be indicative of a problem. Some people feel they just have to reply in a "flamish" manner. My dealer said they wouldn't worry about it until I got 10,000 miles on the car.

For me, I bought my car because its a camaro and for the speed. MPG is the last thing I think of. Who cares if it got 10 mpg its a sports car its suppose to suck gas. I second that, I hate it when people ask you "hows your gas mileage". Another thing that I hate when people tell me there is no room for the two back seats
. If I cared so much about the room in the back seats then I would have just bought a four door car
.
Oh well, that's just how I feel. But for MPG I am about to do a little road trip. Starting NY on I-81 and heading to Atlanta for a couple of days then taking I-20 out to shreveport/Barksdale AFB, LA. See you guys on the road.
Later,
Warren

I get like 12-16mpg in the city, and have even seen 20mpg. I guess I jus have a heavy foot, I don't speed that often, I just like to accelerate
. Don't think you get bad fuel economy, it is expected. The results on the sticker are in the best conditions. I have no chance for the AC to be off because, its Tampa, it is NEVER bellow 90 in summer!!!!!!!!!

Ls1 are pretty good stock and with some mods better than stock when Gas mileage is concerned. I am not bashing anyone in particular or the person who posted this question." Au contraire mon frere", I'm just voicing my view on the ownership of a high power Z VS Gas mileage. It is not like, that most of the time, Racers like us care about mileage or a more delicate subject like emissions. We care about being quick, fast and to Kill as many rivals as possible; (In my case especialy foreign jobs and FORDS).
My rule about gas are:
1- If its empty, then fill it up.
2- Get the best juice for my baby.
So don't get offended, this is America, be free express urself and respect others and their opinions

My best was 31 mpg on the highway. Before the cam I averaged 26-28 mpg. That was 80% freeway driving. With the cam I average 23-26 mpg, once again mostly freeway. If I am getting on it, forget about gas milage. My best tank I got 343 miles. My worst was 210.

When my car was a bolt on car average was 23.5 to 24.5 mpg in daily driving. Road trips was it was to get 30+ mpg. Got 32.5mpg and 32.8mpg on the interstate. With heads and cam & 4.10 gears 26mpg is the best on the highway. 21-23 mpg is pretty typical for my normal driving now too.
clean air filter, fuel filter, TR-55's gapped at 55, tires inflated properly, good alignment can all effect mpg. Driving style has a very major effect too. Using cruise control helps some on the highway.
Good Luck

Seriously, nice guys finish last, this is an open forum, and I like that some people are very opinionated, it makes for a good debate, and conversations would be really
if everyone always agreed. I say to those who are getting almost 30 mpg, you drive like a little girl LOL. You have a corvette engine in your car, so drive like an ***, and don't be afraid to step on someone elses opinion, I'm sure some one who reads this will take it all personally and get pissed off, but that's my 2 cents, drive like an ***!

Last summer I went to SLP day in Ennis from here in Houston. I have 4.10's, had the a/c on, got into three highway races and I got 24mpg.

And I may drive like a little girl, but this little girl has a
100% clean driving record. I've never even been pulled over.
My drivers license and insurance both thank me.

I think they hold 18 don't they? I get 27 and up mpg at 80+ mph in sixth gear with no cruise control being used. That's better than the 19 mpg I got with my 2003 ZR2 truck with a 5 speed at slower speeds. My car is all stock except for a hurst shifter (no big deal) and a flowmaster muffler. Mine also has 47,000 miles on it.

I commute to school (25 miles) and with the cruise control set at 65, I usually see close to 30mpg. stock gears in an M6, no a/c, and all flat land
And I'll have to double check, but I think the gas tanks were like 16.5 gallons
Matt
