I thought these things got 28 mpg

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
PendragonZ: you got me there on the driving record, 5 tickets in the last 8 months, but two of them were on my CBR 900RR, not to mention the times they didn't catch me, lol. I wish I could be content following the speed limit, but I guess between fast airplanes, bikes, and cars, it just isn't in me. Anyway, I've gotten out of 4 of the 5 tickets, and the fifth one is pending. I'm not saying you can't have fun with the car unless you drive like an ***, but I like to really push all my toys.

I get about 28 on the highway doing 70 to 75 and about 16 in town if I'm not getting on it. I don't do that very often, but I see this car and engine as a wonderul way to have the best of both worlds.

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
I got an everage of 30MPG averaging 70MPH on the first 450 miles of a roadtrip. After that I got tired of everyone passing me.
On an earlier roadtrip, I got an average of 28MPG, but that was in freezing temps. If I keep my foot out of and drive sane, upper 20's are typical.
The worst I ever got was 10MPG. I'll plead the 5th on that

I get 12-14 mpg in town No idea what on the highway never been on it long enough to measure or care. My 68 Vette got 8 mpg but gas was 25 cents a gallon then. I didnt care about milage then and I stil dont. Miles per gallon and high horsepower dont mix. Buy a import 4 banger if milage is important to you.

This is the first time i've checked my mileage on a 02 T/A convert.w/342s A4,i was doing 70-75 mph @ 2200-2500 rpms. The air conditioning was on the entire trip and i went over two 4000ft.mountain passes.
.................23.6 mpg........................
I wonder what i could get with the air conditioning off?

I feel what you are saying. I just bought a 02 ws6 and I was planning great gas mileage. It has a few bolts ons but I am guessing that we are getting in the high teens. I am not complaining one bit and it is alot better than my mustang but I do think that some people make it sound like these ls1 cars are like Honda civics when it comes to gas lol
I am still very pleased with the car. And I am sure that with time gas mileage will only be getting worse lol ( more mods!)

I feel like I barely have any mods and only get 15-16 around town. I don't really get on it, but I live so close to work that it doesn't even get a chance to fully heat up before I have to get out. I literally live less than 5 minutes away (if I get stuck at a light). So, I dunno if that has anything to do with it. But I've cleaned my MAF and changed my plugs, wires, oil, swapped to premium gas, ran some fuel injection cleaner through it, and still only get 16-17. I think my rear 02's might be going bad though. About 6 months ago or so during the rain my car threw a code for rear 02 issues. Had auto zone clear the code and it never came back. So, I dunno. I am about to move about 20 miles away one way so hopefully all highway will get better.
When I first bought the car I drove from Milwaukee to Kentucky (600ish miles) and got around 250-275 miles before getting to 1/8 to 1/4 tank. Either way I'm more than happy with the car and kind of expected this when I bought it.

Ok wait a minute, why are you concerned about getting good gas mileage? If you wanted a car with good gas mileage then you should have bought a nice quaint little Nissan Leaf. Here is a link for it. http://www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electr...tric-car/index
Anyways this is a wonderful zombie thread, did you happen to just be looking for the oldest possible mpg thread?

Hey I'm not the one that resurrected this ridiculously old thread, but I figured I might as well post up lol. And no, I'm not worried about mpg. Although it is going to suck when gas prices reach $6 a gallon.
