I thought these things got 28 mpg
Just got my baby, and I noticed I go through gas real quick. Im refueling every other day(fill up on a 1/4 to 1/2 tank). I also drive around 45-50 miles each day. I know you would probably have to granny shift to get great gas mileage, but I did expect it to be better on gas then Im getting. Anyone have any thoughts, how is your gas mileage

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
i have heard people getting 26-28 on the highway in 6th gear crusing at 60-65
i never got more than 24 in mine, but i liked to cruise at 75 and 80

01 WS6 TA 6 speed here... 22 MPG city (up from slighty over 20 since mods. earlier this year) and got 27 MPG on the turnpike driving out east last year (mostly 5th and 6th gear)- that number may be up now too...

Who cares about gas mileage if you are pumping 300+ rwhp. Who are u kidding. U want good gas mileage buy a Ricer with a 1.4 litre 4 banger or better yet a moped.
Sorry folks but that question always pushes my buttons.
I'll be talking that I have 320+ rwhp and they tell me "hows ur gas Mileage"

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
why not have good mpg with good hp? Hell, people love hearing that my nova gets 15 mpg with an A3, 3400 stall and 3.73 gears on the highway!
My formula gets about 21-22 mpg highway with AC on, about 23-24 with the AC off, this is about 75-77 mph with the cruise on. I get about 19-20 mpg in the city. M6's usually do a little better.

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
I saw 30.8 mpg at 74mph (average) with the ac on, even running up some 4-6% grades (a few). I was suprised. If I cruise closer to 80-83, with the ac on I see about 26-28 mpg. I have a 2002 M6 with a lid, filter and the slp bellows. Dead stock otherwise....
Combined city/highway (morning and afternoon rush hour in Columbus, Oh) I see about 19-20 pretty regularly, and in this town, if you are not stopped in traffic, you are running 80mph or so.

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
I just drove to Dallas last weekend, 500 miles round trip, and I got 29 mpg with the 383. This was in 6th of course, cruising at 80-85 mph. I would have got over 30, but I could'nt stand everybody passing me at 75 mph!
Around Houston I get about 16-18 depending on how heavy my lead foot gets from time to time!
These LS1s are amazing!!!

Re: I thought these things got 28 mpg
For me, I bought my car because its a camaro and for the speed. MPG is the last thing I think of. Who cares if it got 10 mpg its a sports car its suppose to suck gas. I second that, I hate it when people ask you "hows your gas mileage". Another thing that I hate when people tell me there is no room for the two back seats . If I cared so much about the room in the back seats then I would have just bought a four door car .
Oh well, that's just how I feel. But for MPG I am about to do a little road trip. Starting NY on I-81 and heading to Atlanta for a couple of days then taking I-20 out to shreveport/Barksdale AFB, LA. See you guys on the road.

Warren
