Default Z-Max ?

I thinking about doing the Z-Max on my next oil change along with a tune up. The reason I'm going to try it is I have a lil piston slap ( for 30 seconds) on cold starts. My neighbor has a 5.3 truck and had piston slap untill he used Z-Max. His is starting to come back and he was told to use Z-Max every 4th or 5th oil change. Has anyone tried it and is it worth it?

Try using a different oil, some oils help get rid of some valvetrain noise.

If you read everything you won't do it. If anything I might recommend switching to 0-w30 instead of 5-w30.

Check out the lawsuit against them. It is nothing more than a bottle of MINERAL OIL !!!!!!!

As someone else stated go with a thicker oil. Id try something like an amsoil or find mobile one 15W-50 and mix 2 quarts with 3.5 quarts mobile 5W-30 or 10-W30.

Yes, the BITOG site IS the be all, end all of lubrication/tribology info.

BUT here is my standard disclaimer; the vast majority of the members over there are abject, close minded, domestic HATERS (while being import nameplate worshippers), who will NEVER cease/fail to bash/lambast any and all domestic nameplates EVERY/ANY chance they get, even when it has NOTHING to do with the thread/question/subject at hand, and even if they are DEAD wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
If this does not bother you, or if you agree with them, you will get along just fine over there.
But if you are proud of your ride/country's products you will be spending A LOT of your time there fighting the 'importees' by defending your ride's capabilities/reliability against their one-sided import !!
If the above is the case, just go there for oil/lube info, get your answer, and get out fast!

"It's the Linkite!" has been a derisive punchline thrown around for years, to poke fun at the gullible people who fall for such crap.
