Best way to spend 1500-2000$
Ok, so i have a 2000 Z28 .....Was wondering the best way i could get the most out of this budget build w/o nitrous....maybe ls6 intake with ported tb, some headers and exhaust?? or maybe just some badass Heads?? or just a badass cam, w/ locks retainers rockers..ect (btw how much would a complete cam setup cost me (a good One)(

just depends, also look at it in the long run instead of just right now. reason i'm saying that is say you want to go FI in a year or so but you've been building up for a NA setup with some juice. like a radical cam and high compression and the NA ****. then you try stabbin a turbo on there. your going to spend twice the amount of money to redo everything the way the turbo likes it. see what i'm saying?

We need more info to help you. If you want to see gains and keep in stock form, gear and converter will knock huge amounts off your time. I don't even know if you have an auto though. I had 250 in a 4.11 gear, 600 in a 3600 stall converter, 200 in cutous, and 300 in rear slicks and weld wheels. It ran 9.22 bone stock and runs 8.03 now (eighth mile). Take the other 150 and go to the track or grab some beer (preferably not at the same time!!).

^^^^hes right best thing to do if you want a drag car....or header,s intake, ported tb, offroad y pipe, lid if you dont have it, maybe a 3 inch exuast system...theres about 350hp
so much top end power!

Ok, im sorry guys (THANKS BTW!!)..It is Auto not sure about the rear (i think 3.23s), about 100,000 miles on whole car...totally stock. My goal is to get to mid-low 12's (11's down the road)... would it be best to go with exhaust, intake, port my tb or just throw it all into some AFR (or DART) heads (would they give me more of a gain than all of the others combined??)..But for now it is a daily driver. What do you suggest my first - second -(ect..) upgrades be

All stock A4? Thats an easy decision then. Stall converter and LT headers. They will really wake the car up. However, with 100K i'd first be sure that all my maintenance is up to date.

What kind of maintenence do you speak of?? Where should i look on the engine to tell if it has been overheated previously?? I know it hasnt, it runs good and holds oil pressure and all, but what do i inspect to make sure?

Since you sound like you have pretty big plans for your car, I definetly wouldn't get heads or a cam yet. The first step in modding should be to get air in and get air out. The LS6 intake and ported throttle body (do it yourself, its easy) are both good ideas. Then I would get headers, an ORY and a catback or go true duals. Then start worrying about heads, cam, convertor, etc.

get longtubes (pacesetter) off road y pipe, a cutout, lid, and a nice size stall..then maybe some lower control arms if you have the money...id buy the headers, y pipe, and lca's used..Personalyl id get a new torque converter and would not buy used. You will probably still have some money left over if you find good deals. Then maybe switch to a 3.73 or 3.23 gear if your running the **** 2.73's

Agreed. And this isn't just a mod to make the car bulletproof. Get a nice gear in to go with a 12 bolt (I.E. 4.10, 3.73, etc), and you've just future-proofed your rear all while making it a lot of fun to drive with the better gear.

You really didn't give enough info on what you want to end up with later on but if I only had 2k to spend with that car this is what would make me the happiest...
big cam
LT headers
LS6 intake
lid
cutout
tune
I'm not saying that will get you down the track the fastest but it would give you a good increase in power making the car a lot more fun to drive while you save up for a rear end, clutch or torque converter, and some suspension parts to make it hook.

Only have the very most reputable shops install gears, though.
Well, a "lid" is the normal first buy. Probably more that 65% of LS1Tech got an air induction lid as their first mod. Takes like 5 min and a screw driver.
If it's not a 01-02, then get an LS6 intake too. Look for a used one in the LSX Parts for Sale. They go for $350 IIRC. It's a time consuming swap, though.
If you buy and have installed all of these things, you may not have enough with just $2,000.

what about some shocks, wheels, tires... little different perspective. If you already have 17's or nicer wheels, then i'd start on the usual bolt ons, plus the shocks
also, i would seriously think about a built tranny b/c most of them go out btw 100-130k miles.

Check the codes to make sure it's not a 2.73 rear car. i picked up 3/10'ths going from 2.73 to 3.42. either way, a gear is where i'd start w/full exhaust and lid next.
