Gears or Stall??
#63
may help may not....I had 2.73s and ran the car bone stock.....I wont post times cause the track I run at is god awfull slow.....well I added full bolt ons 373s and a tune...it netted me 1 full second and 6mph....this was on drag radials......
then I added some axles and other mods to the 10 bolt alond with a ssf 4000 stall and a smallish cam and gained .9 and 4mph......
I wouldnt eliminate the gears all together but as others have stated the stall makes it alot more fun to drive.....I Vote Both......

Great vid!
Good illustration of the difference.
With my stock stall and 2.73's, with a light foot it'll shift all the way into OD without even passing 2k rpm. So did mine
Question: 1/3 of my daily commute is on a long straight rural road with a 35mph speed limit. Traffic usually flows at 40mph. At a steady 40mph, does the converter lock and then you're running <1500 rpm? My yank ss3600 will lock at about 45 mph. You can get that tuned to what you want if you got the money.
I assume it locks on the highway, so highway mileage isn't affected. Correct
I was thining of a mild stall, say a 3k Circle D, and considering I'd keep the 2.73's and I do very little actual stop and go city driving, could I expect a minimal mileage dop? Say only 1-1.5? Or am I crazy? I haven't had my mileage tested yet. Still on the first tank. I have been giving it LOTs of hell and i got about 215 miles on this tank and i still got over a 1/4 tank. Something to think about. I know i'm not getting as good as mileage as before, but I am seriously giving it lots of hell.
I drive 64 miles a day, so I need all the mileage I can get! Well if that's highway miles. Then you need not worry!
I'm not looking to make a race car, I just want to wake the thing up a bit. She feels very sluggish with the 2.73's. It will wake them up a bit. I wish i could tell the difference of a gear change. I got 2.73s as well. It will definitely wake up the car. I got nitto 315s and they will burn em a lil bit even with 2.73s and hot pavement
Thanks.
Sorry if this is a threadjack.
