They will fit...the only problem would be AIR connections...01-02 didn't have EGR. Just delete the EGR and AIR on your car, and make block off plates for the headers.

Or free if you make them yourself.

My car came with stainless shorty headers, does that mean the air is disconnected? Isn't that the process where it shoved air back in your intake for better gas mileage?

no its just a stupid thing that shoves air into your headers so wen the cats are cold it still would burn the poluting gasses more efficiently.\
you may here it on a buzzing sound like for the first 5 min of start up.

The stock 98-99 y pipe won't directly bolt up to 00-02 manifolds/shorty headers on the passenger side.

Shorty headers are a waste of time. I wouldn't go through the hassle unless you were putting longtubes on.

Longtubes outflow shorties by alot. Shorties barely flow better than stock due to their design (primaries, length). A header install is by no means a quick job and if youre gonna spend the money you may as well go with longtubes.

The 01-02 cars have redesigned cats, the same that come on the Zo6 of that era. They flow almost double what the 98-00 cars have. If you are looking for a sleeper setup, or just don't want to deal with the tinny sound you get when you put headers on (its thinner material I don't care what kind of aluminum it is). Then picking up a set of 01+ manifolds might be worth for some, or shorties with high flow cats if you want to stay legal, just make sure the merge is constructed well, because alot of the time the shorty headers get the interns for welding duty and it shows.
