Default Which power adder: Nitrous or Cam?

Well my Camaro is near its final stage: I have full suspension being installed here soon (Koni/Strano/UMI) set up. That is along with the mods in my sig.

After that I plan on getting a LS6 intake and ported TB.

After that there is just one more big thing I'm going to do for a power adder, and I'm not sure of what to do between getting a cam (224/224 DD type cam) or a 100 dry shot of nitrous.

The cam is always there and sounds mean, but the nitrous is only there when I want it so I can keep my bolt on drivability and mileage when I don't (and puts out 3 times the power), but I dono...

Anybody have 2 cents? I'm on the fence so hearing what other peoples thoughts are would be appreciated. This is also my DD.

If I were you I'd do a cam swap over the nitrous. How often do you see yourself spraying with a daily driver? The way I see it, nitrous is power on call, but its a DD, where and when would you be able to safely do this? By safely I mean without endangering yourself and others as well as not getting stopped by police. With a cam, you have that awesome cam sound, you expand your power to your spec, and its always there. Since you aren't planning to go too big, I wouldn't worry so much about mileage as long as you drive reasonably.

True, and thanks for the responses. For reasoning on spray on a DD car, I guess it is when I want to do pulls with friends or take it to the track. Also who knows with emissions testing changing down the road with a cam... (I also have true duals and lt headers, which is already loud as hell (not gonna change it) so I think a cam would really **** the cops off.)

But that is for one side of the argument. Thanks so far for the fast responses! I'm really torn! The cam arguments make sense too.

I dunno about you, but if I were doing a cam swap I'd be doing rockers, push rods, lifters, intake, an oil pump if needed, timing chain if needed. If you're gonna tear into the motor make it worth your while. The problem with that is that a $400 cam swap turns into a $1500-$2000 top end build. That maybe what decides it for you.

That was already part of the cam swap idea. Everything but the lifters, that is, since the heads have to come off for that... (So yes that is kept in mind)

a cam swap is not that time demanding... a head swap is a different story.

Just like my buddy john is doing, cam then nitrous. Make sure you go with a big ol lumpy cam, MS4 or go home

You ARE going with the cam, nothing like the lobe go with the fast in an f-body.

heads and cam is good but eventually you are still gonna want to spray it. If you go with nitrous don't go with the dry kit. you are limited by how high of a shot you can use safely, and it's not as efficient. I would go with a direct port or a wet.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but I do know a lot about nitrous (generally) and have read the nitrous FAQ and threads many times and its not true. But thanks for the response.

Again, no MS4 for a DD...

And it is one or the other for me, so I must decide between the two.

Again, thanks for the response though

Yeah, I was dicking around with that MS4 comment. Since you have a 6speed, I would definitely go with the cam. And later down the road ( it should and probably will happen ) you will want to go with spray
