Salt in gas tank
#21
Engine cleaner? He didn't put it in the oil. That engine cleaner crap is horrible for the engine, i would never use it. I know it cleans all the carbon buildup , but its not like it dissapears. It will end up sitting in the oil pan, so the oil pump pickup can grab it and clog it up. I would drop the tank and have it cleaned professionally. That is horrible that he did that to your car, but I dont think salt is nearly as bad as sugar. Good luck.

Agree guys salt doesn't dissolve in gas. The tank has been dropped and there was a fair amount of salt in the fill tube. Since it is all apart going to go ahead and put a 255lph fuel pump in it, a new fuel filter, flush the fuel line to the fuel rails, and possibly 42lb/hr injectors then the fuel system is set for a few more mods.

Good for you sounds like the guy was bad news.
Im sure whoever you moved onto wanted to handle this himself. looks like you are keeping this under control. Even though their is side to me that would want to even the score and it would not stop at his car.
Good luck with the car. I would just have it professionaly taken care of.

Clorox in the gas tank is the killer...
Sugar, salt, mothballs, you name it... do NOTHING!
Mythbusters on TV tried everything to kill an old Cadillac engine.. only Clorox did anything.... it completely ruined it... and it only took few minutes...

natem91,
Sorry to hear this happened. Sounds like he was trying to make napalm in your tank. Salt added to gasoline will cause a thickening of the petroleum fuel. Salt is one of the main ingredients for making home made napalm. So, I would agree it does not "dissolve" so much as it bonds with the petroleum causing it to thicken.
We had our Cobra sugared. Although it did not hurt the engine, it did ruin the fuel pump filter, clog the fuel filter, injectors and fuel rail, so it can be destructive to a degree. However, it is not the engine killer that some people think it is.
Good luck, keep your chin up and SHOW NO FEAR!
