yeah that sounds like piston slap. it sounds like a "clapping". alot of us have it, its a big thing for ls1's. some people have it worse than others. from what everything has been said about it, it doesnt really hurt anything. its just annoying. You cant fix it, without rebuilding the entire motor. the piston rings get hot as the car warms up ( duh ), and when the rings get hot, they expand and you no longer can hear your piston slap as bad. like i said, some people have it worse than others. like, my car, its pretty loud at first, and it never entirely goes away, it just quiets up alot, untill i revv it up again, then you can hear it as the rpms fall back down. then it goes away again. its odd. i hear, if you use a thicker oil, it can quiet it up. but ive never tried it yet. i wouldnt worry about it man.

I had it since the day I bought my WS6 new. Around 15K miles one of my cats failed, I mentioned the slap to the dealer while it was there and wound up getting a new motor. It never seemed to affect performance, as stated above, I wouldnt worry a whole lot about it unless it got to a point where it didnt go away after reaching op. temp. Or of course, unless you start burning oil

I have been pretty lucky. I believe I heard somewhere that 99-00 cars had piston slap but cant confirm that and I know I know someone with a 2000 vette and it has zero piston slap. Hell even my Trans am its a 98 with 85k on the clock has ZERO slap even in the middle of winter if I have to start it to move it or something.
It doesnt affect performance at all I dont believe and wont be harmful but I really am not 100% sure on longterm damage

Yay my ex cop car(b4c) does that till it gets warmed up. but it does not effect the way it performs. No loss in oil pressure or anything. It is just the way it is with these alum block baddasses!!
