Default is my car running good?

a few weeks ago my car had the service engine soon light come on. a friend of mine being a dumb **** erased the error code from the car. i listened to every one say that it was just a tune up that i needed because for a while it was running on 7 cylinders due to a plug wire being messed up. but anywho....... last night i found myself having a race on my hands between me and an 2nd gen MR2 with a bigger turbo it turned out to be almost a dead even race and shifting from 2-3 my car pushed out a pretty decent sized cloud of smoke. i was just wondering if it had to do with the car running on 7 cylinders for a while or if i maybe had some engine damage from it. im still a newb at mechanics especially the ls1 so please dont bash me i am just wondering if it was an extreamly bad thing?

srry if this was a little long

Did you change the plug in the cylinder that wasnt firing? it may just be some unburnt fuel if you didnt.

no i didnt i figured it was just a problem with the wires since one had a pretty deep gash in it.

With that cylinder not firing it probably ruined the plug. GO buy a new one and put in there and see if that helps.

thats the thing i figured it was fixed because the error code was deleted and i thought all it was is the plug wires.
