Default Newbie tune/exhaust ?

I've got a stock 98 t/a and i'm trying to decide between a magnaflow and lm2. I know there are plenty of exhaust questions out there, but my main question is, will I need a tune after just adding a cat-back on a stock t/a?

a. I would go with the magnaflow because down the road if you do headers/ory cam etc., the lm is way too loud. And b. no you wont need a tune for just a catback- the computer "relearns" little adjustments like that. But if you have the money to burn-by all means.

No, you will not NEED a tune. I have a magnaflow cat back AND headers/ory, and im still on stock tune, car runs fine maybe a little bit rich.
If you dont plan to get headers get the LM2.... if you plan to get headeres id go with the magnaflow, IMO.

I am glad I went with the magnaflow.

I just installed yesterday a Magnaflow c/b (#16723) on my '02 TA WS6. It sounds (and looks) f'n awesome! Not too loud, but it gets noticed. After reconnecting the battery and starting it up, it ran beautiful. No worries.

Thanks for the input guys. Ruti and some others that have the magnaflow, I know you say its quiet, but is it louder than stock? or does it just sound better? Wow Ruti, only 8000 miles on your t/a???

idk how magnaflow compares to stock (i dont think ive ever heard a stock exhaust on a f-body) but its quieter then Loudmouth. My friends LM cat back only car is louder then my headers/ory/magnaflow cat-back car at idle.
If you want a "hey look at me, I got a loud car" exhaust, i dont think magnaflow is for you. Magnaflows sound good IMO, but they are also quiet.

Yes - Magnaflow is louder than stock. The LM2 is louder than the Magnaflow.

I think the LM2 is the better sounding catback if you are going to always run stock manifolds and cats. Magnaflow is a little too quiet for me for a car in otherwise stock form.

The Magnaflow is the better choice if you are planning to add LT headers / ORY.

No tune required for either catback.

May I sugggest a DMH Cutout (under the rear passengers seat location) instead of a new catback? They are lots more fun. Just mash the button and count to 3 and you can be loud as you want to be! I personally like the Hooker catback over the Magnaflow. But the Hooker would be almost as quiet as stock on your car. No tune needed.
