Default Opinions... fair cost of assembled LS6 heads and LS2 intake?

Have an friend of mine who offered me the LS2 intake and heads (243's) off of his GTO for $750 for both. Heads are assembled (with stock rockers), and the intake includes fuel rails and the stock injectors but NO throttle body (which makes little difference to me since it's not cable driven anyway). All parts have ~40,000 miles on them.

The $10,000 question is... is $750 a fair price for these items? I dunno... seems like it might be a bit high, but figured i'd pop in here and get some opinions before I accidentally try to lowball him on the stuff. And he's offering me $750 privately. He wants $600 for the heads and $300 for the intake everywhere else.

Fire away!

PS-Yes, I did do some searches, but didn't really come up with anything definitive.

i wouldnt bother with the intake, just the heads. ls2 intake sucks, a ls6 intake with smaller TB will outflow it.

Cool, good info. And what do you think would be a fair price for those assembled 40k mile heads? $600 seems a little excessive to me. But who knows... I could be way off.

Agree with above. Heads don't have the high dollar sodium valves and LS6 IM is better than LS2. Get the heads for $400 if you can and say "no thanks" on the IM. If you are planning to cam you might come out better in the long run to buy some ported heads with better springs from a sponser so consider your long range goals. Just my .02

If I do go with a cam, it'll be way down the road. I've got 105k on my SS and i'm sure the top end is a little tired and could use from freshening up. Sooooo.... I figured while I was at it, what the hell... may as well pick up some 243's to throw on there and an intake manifold, too.

And i'm glad to hear more than one person agrees on the LS6>LS2 manifold. I'll definitely go that route. Or possibly even a FAST 92/92 depending on how froggy I feel financially.

Thanks guys!

Well, he told me to take a hike on the heads. Won't sell em for $400. So... anyone got a set?

This is the E-Bay link to his stuff. He just put it up yesterday... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=170258408487

He was originally asking $600 for the heads, $300 for the intake, and $100 for the cam. Personally I think he's off his rocker on the prices for the heads and intake.

I honestly don't think he's going to get what he wants for it, but... eh... whatever... not my loss.

^ I was just thinking the same thing. He isn't a very good friend. I gave a friend of mine a built and running 350 that I had over $3000 into, for free. I can understand wanting to make a buck, but he could have accepted $400. I probably would have sold them for $200 to a friend.

$600 is too much for stock LS2 243s. I bought a set with 14,000 miles on them and they had the Patriot Gold spring kit with 3000 miles on them for $550 shipped. He should've jumped at an offer for $400 from a friend. I always give friends a good deal on parts because it usually comes back around when I need something.

Yeah, it really sucks. I was looking forward to throwing some better stuff on my SS too without having to worry about shipping a heavy-assed set of heads from somewhere else. Oh well.... who knows... maybe i'll get lucky and run in to someone that's as knowledgeable as the folks around this board that has a set and pick em up shipped for less than what he wanted for his.

Ok... maybe not, but a guy can dream can't he?
