SLP or SUNCOAST
Looking for a Ramair hood for my 2001 TA. SLP vs. SUNCOAST
The SLP HO is a great looking hood, but how functional
is it compared to the Raptor?
The Raptor offers direct air flow to the filter (more hp ?) and an optional heat extractor (less under hood Temps). But I'm concerned about the craftsmenship, IMO SLP would spend a little more attention to detail.
Could someone shed some light on this, I might consider function over looks, but not craftsmenship!
Need some feed back on SUNCOAST I guess

Re: SLP or SUNCOAST
I have the Raptor hood on my car. My friend did all the prep work and painted, we installed it in about 2 hours time. Libed up perfect the first time. I love it.

Re: SLP or SUNCOAST
My SLP HO hood fit great with no fitment issues. I wouldn't exactly buy any of the so called "ram air" hoods for their functionality. Get the hood you like the look of best and throw an FTRA on the car. It works better than the hoods anyway.

Re: SLP or SUNCOAST
From my experience I wouldn't go with suncoast creations. I am very unhappy with fitment. Has a bunch ripples on it after it was painted. Also you have to specify if you want the heat extractors for an extra $100. I ordered my hood through BACKSTREET AUTOMOTIVE so BEWARE they get there hoods through Suncoast Creations

TRANZAM01,
You own a Raptor hood? I thought they had the airbox option for direct flow into the filter ( looks like it in the AD anyway......looks like the hood sits directly on the air filter, No?)
As for the ripples, Do you think better prep work
might solve it?
Thx for the input guys

Re: SLP or SUNCOAST
Very happy with my Raptor hood. No fitment problems. Been on the car over 4 years now with no quality issues.
Here's what the airbox looks like installed. It seals to the base of the hood for direct-flow into the filter. Very efficient and does not draw in hot air from the engine compartment like some other hood designs (including factory WS6 and SS).

Re: SLP or SUNCOAST
Thx guys, I think I'm going with the Raptor.
After doing a bunch or searching it seems the Raptor has the same quality as SLP and better function.
