All this damn bustin knuckles to find out there is less than half a quart of tranny fluid in the trans and the converter is bone dry . I guess i dont have to buy a pump now and atleast the pan will be easier to pull with the trans out.

If i was to guess off top with a good hook maybe 13.50 give or take but idk. I havent ever gotten to drive a LS car to its potential just a little here and there. When i get it done and rolling im taking to get tuned (dont have to) but i want to get whatever out of it there is lol. If it blows then i start looking for a 6L block.

Cat back, drop in k&n, and i might have a shift kit put in the tranny while i have it out. Not sure what gear is in the car but can find out. I have done some reading and have seen in a few places where it says that i should be able to take a showroom LS1 car with a 5.3 tuned. Who knows or cares? Ill be adding mods soon but im not putting money in this motor till it gets mounted on another contraption.

I have seen some run faster than 13.7. Outonyou has a stock 02 camaro with drop in filter and i would bet money his car will turn a 12.8 on good tires. Might be a factory freak but whos to say this 5.3 isnt lol.

thats true on the factory freaks but i can garuantee mine wasn't one. before i got it the guy posted on here he ran a 13.4 or so with a catback. althought Josh R claims he saw it go 12.8 on street tires with that set-up**coughbullshit***. i put in a stall and true duals and could only muster a 12.9 fighting the hell out of traction. i believe when hiltons car was stock it ran a 13.3 or so, but that was a 6 speed. they do pretty good as long as they aren't tearing up drivetrain parts.....

just for Josh R.....dug this up from your friend, the previous owner.
I have a '01 SS with the 3.23s, slp lid, long tubes, or-y, hooker catback, a tune, and on Falken Ziex 275/45-17s I ran a best of 13.34@105mph with a 2.0 60'. Six out of eight passes I ran 13.5@106, one run I put it to the floor on takeoff just to see what would happen and I spun thru 2nd, got out of it and then rolled back into it and got a 14.1. My other runs I stalled to 1500rpm and rolled the throttle to the floor around 30-40mph so they wouldn't break loose too bad. Hope that helps, but a stall will do you no good without traction, traction will do you no good without a 12-bolt.

There's this road on the back side of the lake where no-one's around at night, me and my friends go out there and leave rubber all up and down that bitch.

Well, I put the gas pedal to the floor and turn the key. It hits the limiter immediately, then I throw it in reverse and spin tires back down the driveway and while still rolling backwards with my foot to the floor I slam it in drive, it kinda makes a loud clanking sound but it goes away after I spin tires back up the driveway and into the street. By then I'm almost up to operating temp so I just keep it floored until I get to work, then I yank up the e-brake to slide into my spot sideways.

now check this BS out:
Oh and do all the free mods if you have time/know how to do them. I cutout the bottom of my airbox, bypassed TB, descreened and ported MAF, and I swear it spins tires easier and for longer.

truth is, the airbox wasn't cut when i got the car, TB bypass line was rubbing on the water pump pulley about to bust open and cause a bad coolant leak, and the MAF was descreened but instead of porting it, he just hacksawed the divider in the aluminum.

I got off early unexpectedly today and put the car back together after the removal of the isolators and hilton welding in my relo brackets. I put them on the lowest hole to start. I must say I am pretty impressed. I put it in 2nd and stood in it and it didnt even break em loose till about the time I shifted at about 6k. Pretty good with the 4.30's and street tires, and it wasnt even warm out. I could feel it get squirrelly just as I pushed the clutch. I didnt even try it in first, just a little ride around the backwoods. Used to it would break loosed anytime I just punched it in 2nd. Thanks a ton Hilton! I am now in your debt.
