Checked wires. I wouldn't know how to check coil packs and I'm thinking it's O2's. Told him to go from cheapest up to see what it is, doing spark plugs first and double checking wires.
Thanks

If you can read the codes move a coil to the misfire and see if the misfire moves

I am not care of it either! Ol' Boy knows what's up!
I've got 7 stock plug wires (well, at Shane's house) if it turns out to be a wire.
I've got a few oxygen sensors, but they're not Vette length, and also they may not all work. There would be cutting and splicing involved and some trial and error.
I also have 8, 98 coil packs that I'd sell. Everything else would be free to a good home!

Need to know what the sound is. P0300 won't help you find the misfire. Like it says, it's random. Which means it's not a plug wire, plug, or coil pack (unless a bunch of plugs are fowled). If it gives you something like P0301 then you know its cylinder 1, if p0302, then it's cylinder 2. Makes me lean towards O2 sensors or maf problem. If Wade or Chris are around, have them hook up their HP Tuners scanner and watch the STFT and LTFT to see what they are doing.
But, that sound is really important. We need a better description.

What worries me is the sound it's making. It got louder as the car warmed up, the tone doesn't really increase that much as the RPMs are up and it's obviously loud on engine decel. Damn Cobra owners screwing up Z06s!!! lol

My friend is taking care of his friend's '02 Z06 and it suddenly threw codes P0171, P0174 (lean codes) and P0300 (Random misfire) the first day he was driving it to work. The problem is that it's making an odd sound that doesn't sound like knock or a bent PR (trust me on that one, lol) Anyone have any ideas as what it could be? Spark plugs, wires, O2s, Lifters?

Andy is the car modded? How many miles? I'm thinking O2's are goin bad. It's highly unlikely but not impossible that injectors are failing. Also, if it's throwing PO300 then moving the coils will not isolate the misfire because it's a random misfire amongst all cylinders. It should be specific with that car on the code PO301 (cyl. 1) to PO308 (cyl. 8). The noise your hearing what's it sound like?
