Get a stethescope or whatever it's called and check if it's more prevalent in a certain area. Sometimes they barely make noise but if you're not going with a cam anytime soon i'd suggest replacing them for their hardened counterparts anyway.
I had a account here before but I have no idea what it was, I didn't think Kappa fit in here as well...

Welcome, moo.
The ticking is completely gone now. It was in the head, but like all the other Gremlins my car's had, its disappeared. I'm tempted to just swap in an ls3 crate motor with the gm hot cam. 480 HP + 9#s boost = badassness. About 7K for the motor from intake to oil pan and the conversion parts.

But thats you doing all the assembly that costs more.....But I agree, if I was him I would get a boost ready 370 from aes 3500$ and a good set of ported heads and max out that STS kit and really see what she will do..Ive got a set of valve covers he can have if he goes that route

Yeah, I'm on the fence either way. I just like the idea of a brand new fully assembled motor. On the other hand, if I go for more boost later, your way is the way to go.

You will be happy with the ms3. As for no ***** down low, you felt the s10 and it pulls good everywhere. It went 11.57 on motor with 3:08 gears and a 700r with a cheap *** stall. New rear, gears, and good stall should be here pretty soon. Looking for 11.2's or better on motor with a stock shortblock, stock 241 heads and arp rod bolts. Just a piece of advice pull the heads and buy some ls7 lifters and mls head gaskets from chevyland. I haven't had a problem yet and this poor motor is pushing 175k miles.

You're a lucky bastard, I thought about using it, but never cut it up. It is still sitting in my pile of useless parts. It's yours if you need it.

Anybody local have a slide hammer (for pulling dents) I can borrow? My tahoe needs a small adjustment. I have one but it's a 45min drive 1 way.

Well after many months and getting screwed on my 1st trans i bought im just about ready to fire it up again. Just put in a th400 with a brake and ultrabell, umi conversion crossmember, a yank eliminator 3600, moved the trans cooler to the back under the trunk and added a spal fan with a housing built by me. Added a moser 9", alum center, 35 spline axles with a wavetrac, a b&m pro ratchet shifter which is probably one of my favorite mods. Got a pst 3.5" alum drive shaft with 1350 yoke, havent put that on yet tho. Ran braided cooler lines to the cooler. Threw a set of drag bags in while the rear was out. Think thats about it
