Its not only due to the higher cylinder temps associated with nitrous use, but also the rate at which the temperatures rise. So next question obviously should be, well why higher temps with nitrous, right? Well ultimately temperature is in direct relation with pressure in this system. As you're adding pressure, you're adding heat and are now bound to the laws of thermodynamics. So the only way to pull the heat out of the cylinder is with the spark plug.
