Default Losing top end power

So... I went back to the track Saturday, still using a 100 shot, and got a little bit better... but something it happening on the top.

I gained 2mph in the 1/8th but lost 0.5 in the 1/4... I'm guessing my injectors are maxed out (dry shot)... CEL came on for random misfire.

Any ideas?

A friend of mine said it could have been a big drop in bottle psi and there was not as much n2o but the HSW Interface was still adding fuel and I went rich?

So..it's either a rich or lean condition..haha

No, It is about half full.....not sure how much the PSI is...my ZEX bottle gauge is broken..hah

I've sprayed the 100 shot a few times before and it never had this happen. But this time I did leave the bottle heater on longer than I normally do...so maybe it actually had good PSI in it compared to the other times..

I know I really need to get a gauge though.

take the bottle out and weigh it. I try to keep my bottle over 18 lbs, anything under i seem to have problems keeping the pressure up. But its a little easier to keep em full when u can fill it at home. Oh yeah the bottle weighs around 14.7 empty

I've made about 5-7 passes on it with a 100 shot...how much is 10# normally good for? That might be my problem...

Edit: I see you're from Memphis, I don't think I've ever seen your car around.

How did your plugs look?

Do you have a wideband in the car? What was your A/F?

do you have a nitrous filter?

Also, do you have a bottle heater? Its just as important to maintain adequate pressure on a dry shot as it is a wet kit for consistency purposes

Yes, I have a filter and bottle heater. I have a bad habit of not leaving the heater on long enough though...so this past track day I actually had it on. My guess is that is how the car gained 2mph in the 1/8th on the same size shot. But like I said...misfire light came on and I lost 0.5mph in the 1/4.

Only thing changed was higher bottle pressure.

Surely if I picked up 2mph in the 1/8th it should have reflected that at the end, right?

check the nitrous filter to see if its clogged at all. how consistent is your car at the 8th? how was the weather that night? Did you launch and shift at the exact same rpm's? Your gain or loss could have nothing to do with the nitrous.

Matt, I think you answered your own question. As a precaution I would take apart the filter and inspect. Far too many times the fill bottles are full of junk that starts to accumulate at the filter.

Dude, you live like half a mile from me. Give me a call on stuff like like!

I'm in Orlando right now, doing some training sessions with Wells and Bosch we set up. I'll fly back in Thursday evening. I have multiple gauges and whatnot. If you're free Thursday or Friday I'd gladly try and help you diagnose it. I just wanna watch bottle pressure and read the plugs.....let me know man

I agree that it sounds like a bottle pressure issue...due to bottle volume and pressure drop during a run.

Yeah, if you have a nitrous gauge I could buy that would be nice. BB&T only has ZEX ones and it broke on me so I don't want another one of those.

I plan on going racing this Saturday so hopefully we can figure out something

My car is very consistent on and off the bottle. The weather was really nice this past track day and I gained N/A and on the bottle. Launching and shifting was the same (I have an auto). I'll go check the filter now.

So..gained 2mph in the 1/8th N/A and on the juice.. 60ft times on the bottle were the same ...1.592 and 1.594.

The weather was a lot less humid on the better runs, but temperature was about the same.

Yeah I'll be there and a few of my friends are going also. Be on the look out for a white Z28 with a Sunoco cowl hood and silver ZR1s.

Well, the bottle was definitely my problem..and now that I have a working nitrous gauge it makes things so easy.

Went to the track tonight...and it was very cold, the track was cold, and I couldn't hook up and still ran a 11.2!! With a bad 60ft! So the car definitely has some 11.1xs in it with my usual 60ft.. (maybe even a 11.0??????)
