I know, I know.
Way too cautious, but my car hasn't been tuned yet.

I'd be more concerned about the low end rpm that you're spraying it at.

I wouldn't start hitting it until about 3500, and shut it off by 6200

Agreed, with out that lower rpm being brought up there isnt enough of a vaccume to suck that n2o shot in and it can pre ignite.

The depending on the rpm range of the motor you may go past 6,000

That's not the reason that you don't want to spray too soon. The reason is that the TQ spike at lower RPM's is alot harder on the bottom end and the ring lands of the motor, the higher the rpm the less cylinder pressure that the motor will see.

You pull timing and add fuel for nitrous, that is how you tune for it. An ideal nitrous tune is going to be richer (say 12.5 a/f instead of 13 to 1) and ya need to pull timing, 1 degree for every 25 hp from the n/a tune is a good general rule that's a safe starting point.

^ Ic much better, my reasoning was a fuel puddling issue, but also the stress on the parts an ANOTHER whole concern.

The fuel puddling is a concern and IMO a RPM related issue as well, you can only put som much in the intake at a certain RPM before the motor can't inhale it, which is when the problem starts.

mine comes in at 3000 now. i am getting hp tuners on sunday and want to bump it up to 150 or 175. i have the hsw interface and nitrous controller but it only allows for 3 degrees to be pulled without adjsuting the iat if i am not mistaken. i wanted to know how high people are spinning the stock motor. i wouldnt want to burn nitrous if its not helping.

I have a stock 02 Z28 M6 with a dry kit on it spraying 100hp, I have a digital window switch and it comes on at 2600 and goes off at 6000 never been tuned, I have sprayed about 150lbs through it in the last year. I put it on the dyno last month to see what the shot was doing and it made 70 hp more to the wheels, on the graph there was a small spot at about 5000rpm were pcm put in a little knock retard but have never had a problem. It still has the factory lid and it's birth defects on it and the paper filter in it.

Didn't think you neede to pull any timing untill you were on the north side of a 100 shot.

my timing is set at 32 degrees. so when i am spraying its pulling it to 29 on a 125 shot. where should it be with a 150 shot? 175 shot? 200 shot?
