Default First n2o passes, ok but needs work...

First n2o passes today.
Best N/A to date was.
13.035 @ 103.96 wit 1.807 60ft

Today I ran a best MPH of 111.72 on a 100shot

And a best time 12.515 @ 108.0 wit a 1.886 60ft on a 125shot, way to rich 9.sumthing A/F

Im not happy yet with it. Need to get that 60ft down, but it was the first track day of the year and it rained last night so I just couldnt hook on the DR's today.

interesting. my best n/a pass was 13.0 at 108 and with a 125 shot it went 11.87 at 123 both 60's were 2.0. my afr was in the 11's n/a and pegged at 10.0 on my wb.

now my best time is 12.8 after i leaned it out some. never ran it on spray after that. i got a bad bottle and said F it and bought a turbo!!!

maybe you got a bad bottle. more details!

Bottle pressure? How much timing are you pulling?

pulling 3 degrees, 22 degrees total. I have NANO so the pressure never left 950, which is exactly where it suspos to be.

Jetting/tuning work and traction, should get me where I want to be.

7lbs of compressed air? Do you not realize that air doesn't weigh anything?

Here is a simple formula to figure out how much the air weighed etc.

Air has an average molecular weight of 29 (28 for N2*.8 + 32 for O2 * .2)
1 mole of gas at STP occupies a volume of 22.4 L, therefore, 29g {~1 oz)of air at STP occupies 22.4 L

Take you tank volume in Liters (ft3X28.3 or cu in X .0164) and correct to STP (forget the temperature, just multiply the volume by 204 or 306{3000psi/14.7psi; 4500/14.7psi}. This gives you the gas volume at STP.

Divide this volume by 22.4 and you get the weight of air in oz.

Using that, you get the following information:

3000 PSI = 204 atm
4500 PSI = 306 atm

47ci = 0.77 L
68ci = 1.11 L
88ci = 1.44 L
114ci = 1.87 L

So now, just plug it into what I said above, and you get these weights:

47ci 3000PSI tank: 7.0 ounces of air
68ci 3000PSI tank: 10.1 ounces of air
88ci 3000PSI tank: 13.1 ounces of air
114ci 3000PSI tank: 17.0 ounces of air

47ci 4500PSI tank: 10.5 ounces of air
68ci 4500PSI tank: 15.1 ounces of air
88ci 4500PSI tank: 19.7 ounces of air
114ci 4500PSI tank: 25.5 ounces of air

Man I hope so lol.

One guy claims he got 7lbs of air in a nitrous bottle, next guy says it's weightless, then you define its weight with a pressure unit.

My old thermodynamics professor would definitely drop a turd if he read this thread.

something is really wrong with your setup. I went 13.0@110 with my old 98 Z28. SLP cat-back and lid. With a 5177 kit with a 100hp I ran 12.1@120...you need to get that thing to the dyno....

Thanks for getting back on track.

I dont think there is anything "really" wrong with my setup, except jetting and traction. Most bolt-on cars run mid 13s here so a 12.5 on 100 shot dosnt seem that bad to me. You gained 10 mph and I gained 8mph on a 100ish shot.

I agree with you 100%. I'd like to see 11.9s with the set-up. But its hard to get a good ET spinning out of the hole.

What is the DA at the track you run?

Look at the bright side, you went to the track and sprayed it, you drove it home....Thats all that should matter...I am sure with some jet changes you will get it running good...I would suggest taking it to a dyno just to "check" a few things. I guess I shouldn't have said you have "something really wrong". I dont know all of the facts about the track or DA or anything....

Good luck with it man. Let us know how it does the next time you go to the track!
