When i jet customer cars i have had customers start out with there standard system before NANO anywhere from 850psi to 1150psi. Like i said ask your nitrous manufacture for there recommended pressure or find where you like best. With NANO our starting pressure is always 1050psi and 950psi flowing down track.
interesting thing that happened 3wks. ago. the speed shop at the track, serviced the bottle 3lbs over the limit and so with my nano connected [press. normally at 1050] the bottle press. misteriously settled to 900, i swear my purge cloud seemed much thicker, and it certainly left me curious to see if 900 is a better, much denser shot, hence the run felt surprisingly strong. the press. did stabilized back to 1050 after the third run, thought i bring this up since we are discussing bottle press. dynamics. i didn't think that bottle press. droped at all when on nano. i've had my wife activate the purge sys. and i counted to 12, while watching for press. drop, and did not see more than 50psi drop. i have also purged with the nano bottle not connected but with the n2o bottle already primed to 1050 and noticed almost the same small drop.

You are getting a constant pressure while flowing a higher density nitrous through a static line.

I'll see if I can find that other thread.

that was a good thread!

Give me a call today, we can discuss it. There will be a 100psi drop from 1050psi to 950psi when the solenoids are activated.

this was a great read up, one more reason to couple my harris/nx system with a nano bottle. thanks man.

sticky?
lol not necessary, i promise...it was more to illustrate what goes in to properly designing a direct port system.

depends on your shot size. We jet out systems for 950, ideal is whatever works best for your system. But yes we do believe ideal in general is right around there.

Is there supposed to be something that comes with your systems that states this?

If so I missed it.

When I was running the dry hits before the MAF, rather than change jets I would manually use my heater(s) to increase HP. So yes the relative same jet size will in fact become different hp setting per what PSI is run. that is one of the reasons we need to stick with jetting suggested by the manufacture for their chosen PSI.

I think the consensus is that 950PSI flowing pressure is the ideal PSI, given a free flowing system. NANO, NOS and HSW, IIRC, are but a few that run this PSI.

My opinion today is that bottle heaters are dated technology and any real serious nitrous user would benefit by running a NANO system. That has always been one of the biggest draw backs of running nitrous, esp bigger hits, that is the tune falling off on the top end and loosing power. Some classes allow only one kit and if we can stabilize the pressure that is good for about a 25% increase in power thru the run. Also we can run the entire contents of the bottle which allows a smaller bottle (weight) for class racers.

Isnt that backwards?...I mean ur now runin less pressure thus less nitrous thru the same jet for a 1050 rated kit..wouldnt mean less hp?

So my questions is:

"If I am running a 125 shot on an HSW kit should I set my bottle to 950 or set it to 1050 in anticipation of a pressure drop?"

950, thats what our kits are jetted for. The point of the post is that a pressure drop is going to be smaller at 950 than 1050. Now dont get me wrong on a 125 shot it might not be noticable at all on a smaller shot.

could the gaseous state above 1069 psi be used to soften the hit a little???

Don't get any ideas LOL

Gas form isn't what you want to be spraying. It's really not even a pure gas at that temp. Not an ideal situation. If you want to soften the hit, increast the line length from the solenoid to the nozzle.

Sure you can do that, but one end of the spectrum the tune is going to be off. NANO is finally the cure to all bottle pressure drop issues which lead to top end power lose and tunes that don'e stay relative. Also cures the temp based low bottle pressure issue and subsquent skewed tunes. Mike correct me if I am wrong, static bottle for your kits is 1050psi and dynamic is 950psi?
