I talked to my tuner today and im getting my car tuned thursday on the bottle. I asked him what I should set my window switch to, he asked what my car shifts at and what my limiter is at. I said it shifts at 6400 and limiter is at 6700. He told me to set it at 6500, so that means it will shift when im on the bottle, what you guys think I should do?

set it before the car shifts, at like 6200 or something?

Or stop being a puss and shift with the nitrous on?

 

If you wanna go fast spray that bitch through the shifts....

 

lol, i do want to go fast, just dont want to lose the tranny, it has been built though.

 

Unless your tranny is bulit for the additional power/torque, set it to kill the spray during the shift otherwise the tranny will not live very long.

If the tranny is not built, you want the nitrous off when the shift begins, so one or two hundred rpm before shift starts is the norm. It will save mucho wear and tear on thr tranny. Even with my 6-speed, I don't spray thru the shift due to the tranny not being able to handle 700lb ft of torque. Now if we have trannies strong enough, spraying thru the shift will in fact make us quicker and faster, it's your call.

My experience when I had my window switch set 2-300 rpms before the shift, I felt a hesitation/lag, mainly during the 2-3 shift = losing power. I set my window at the shift point and had my tuner raise my rev limiter 500 rpms higher. It pulls like a bat out of hell now!

You mentioned your tranny is built, so you should at least put the window at the shift point. That way, if your 2-3 shift decides to R.I.P, the nitrous will cut off in time before it bangs the rev limiter. Thus, saving your motor..

I just set my window switch up on it, I only have to worry about rpm min1 and rpm max 1 right? I am only a single stage.

 

I sprayed a 100 shot on my ol' lady's SS about 1000 times through the shifts. It did start shifting a little lazy towards the end. The car is still running fine today with the factory tranny. I'm not saying that they will all last like hers has though LOL.

If you want to be safe then set it to come on at 2800 and off at 6200.

 

no matter what your window switch is set at on an auto the car will ALWAYS spray during your shift.
unless you figure out what the car drops to and figure a way to set it up like that there is no way to keep the spray off threw a compleat shift.
dont be a puss. spray it. like i sad you cant stop it so why waist the 200-300 rpm of off time.
i would however be sure to set it just befor your limmiter. so in your case kill it at 6600 so if you slip it you wont be hitting the limiter with spray on

But you will only catch 3rd gear from the rpm drop, so it still saves wear/tear. We whom have tuner programs can quicken the shift times also and dial it right in to totaly miss the shifts. the only reason it takes so long for the tranny to shift is compfort, and it's that dialed in from the factory slip that is the biggest factor (heat) in the tranny wearing out. I also sprayed thu my shifts on my '97 vette auto and had no issues, but more guys have problems than not. So it's the end users choice if he wants to try and save a little wear tear. A good tranny cooler is also a great idea, as is changing the fluid often.

Get a WOT switch... You do let off the gas some when u have an M6 and shift...

 

Yes I do. it's been proven, at least with the Z06 that full speed shifting on stock cars does not quiken the ET. The guy whom holds the record , Ranger, says that only a speed shift going to 4th will help MPH and that #1 run was/is a 11.52 on DRs. I use his techniques and have the #7 spot at 11.71. Now built running gear may be different, but full speed shifting can do some serious damage, lol, if not done correctly.

well, I am auto so dont have too many worries, also I have a the microedge which I have the wot hooked to my comp.

 

I have mine set to spray from 3200-6500 and it shifts at 6800 with the rev limiter at 7100. I guess I could step it up a little closer to the shift but I'm playing it safe!
