My favorite: "Nitrous is the cheap way"

Ha ha, right...before my car burned I had ~$2500 in the kit and accessories directly related to it. A nitrous kit is cheap...but that's only 1/2 the battle.

There wasn't really one specific comment that stuck out but it was all the comments I got when people asked me at work what I was doing to my car. None of them know anything about nitrous yet they would still tell me how bad it is and that I'm crazy.

my intake is metal on the 4 banger outside, but I see the "welds" but still....i would think a backfire would find an easier route to escape... gaskets, etc...

totally. people poke fun at that movie because they dispute all the informative facts. the way i see it, fast and furious movies are published resources. you CAN blow the welds on your intake, nitrous CAN cause an explosion - here's video documented proof where you can clearly see the experienced technician running for safe cover.

I would agree but like I said before it has a tiny bit of truth. Back to amusing foolishness that doesn't involve a movie!

Oh ok, I guess I was thinking you were stating it as fact, not a "slim chance in a dogs hell" kinda thing. I see what your saying now, it "COULD" happen, but, like I said, it would probably find a weaker point to escape.... I gotcha now.....

Both right, win win....

I see comments that are wrong on a daily basis. Most of them are remarks made by people who heard someone else say it and they thought that someone else knew what they were talking about.

The most common is.

Fuel puddles in an intake with a wet system.

Dry or wet is safer than the other..

I could go on and on..

But here is the stupidest thing I have been asked.

Back when the very first fast and furious came out I had a guy come up to the store and ask me if he used nitrous would it cause danger to his manifold. As I was asking him why he would think that all the other guys were in the back office laughing and as I was trying to seriously help the guy and give him information to educate him. It was after he left that the guys asked me "Dude did you even know what he was talking about?" Then they reminded me of Fast and furious.

I could not help but to laugh with them after realizing what the guy was talking about.

It suprised me that anyone would take any of that in that show serious.

Car and Driver magazine said about my car once . "The FuelSlut Corvette packs more nitrous than a dentist's office"

After smoking a Cobra one night the owner walked up with his wife and said
"Look Honey , he had to have 2 bottles to beat me"

I had an old guy tell me once after looking in the car "Your gona blow yourself up kid !"

I agree with a lot of comments here but lets not forget the idiot who uses NOS indiscriminately pretending to know what the hell he is even doing. Those are just as ignorant on the subject as all the other examples put forth in this thread.
