That was a while back but if I remember correct I had it jetted for about 300. Probably way too fat and way over timed LOL.
I trapped 118 this year with it jetted for right around 400 but the car wouldn't 60' for ****. It was on a 1.54 and the nitrous cut out a couple of times LOL. I think on a clean run with it jetted @ 400 it will trap 120/150. At least that's what I'm shooting for. Then I'll jet it up some more

I'm on a tiny budget and I have to make the most out of what I have. (witch is mostly outdated junk)
I'm in the process of cutting a BUNCH of weight out of mine too. I'm hoping to get my car into the 8's next year with a few minor changes.

Smaller motor.. that's probably the only reason. I was at 3350 last time I raced it.. not light light, but not a 3700 lb car either.
If you're in stock weight range, then you're definitely doing better then I am I don't care what the timeslip says, you're 55 CI down, and if you're heavier too, then you're doing pretty good I think

If funds allow it I'd like to get some sort of adjustable suspension on the front of the car. I'm still rollin on bone stock **** up there. I also wanna do manual brakes, the engine bay looks so much better without the booster sticking out.
You have a sweet setup with tons of potential. Just quit being a ***** and hit it with about 400!

All you guys are getting way too fast for me. I still need to find out why my garbage has no top end and no mph. My junk goes 6.1's to the 1/8 at around 112, but only traps like 136. I suspect the 2" headers I have coming will help, but other than that, I have no clue

LOL. I hear ya.
I have been on a weight kick... total weight removed so far, is about 275 to 300, I haven't weigh'd it yet, but it's in that area.
Should be 30xx when I'm done, I want to see 2900, but I don't know how realistic that is without spending a good amount of $.
I'm stepping back to run 9.50 class, car's already done that @ 3350, so with a couple little motor changes I think it will be able to do it on a 100 shot, with about zero timing LOL, I'll for sure not have to lean on it AT ALL to go that fast, this I'm sure of.
End of the season I'll pill it up pretty good, and try for an 8 second pass, how far into the 8's and wether it will get there or not, I don't know.
maybe just put the fogger on it when I swap to a super victor and put a plate on it too, and just run kit jetted small, have the other jetter a little differnet so I have an option for the 9.50 index, then end of the season pill 1 kit up and run both. At this point, I just want to get the car back together and everything freshened up, and race again.

I swapped converters, lost .1 to the 1/8th and gained .4 on the top 1/2, and 4 mph. Didn't change anything in the power department, played with the shocks some, but that didn't make THAT difference.
New converter I think is really gonna like the reduced weight, and a bigger hit eventually.

Converter effeciency. calculate the top end slippage.

Headers are a good place to start, I went from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch with a 3.5 collector and a full 3.5 exhaust when I started spraying. Not sure what it did, never really had any solid results to compare to, when I eventually get around to a tall deck or bigger motor, I'll do it over and go 2 1/8 primaries with a slip on collector and a 4 inch collector... but that won't be anytime soon, and they'll have to get built, probably have to install them in pieces LOL.
I'd try the headers, but I'd look at your trap rpm and calculate the slippage and see where you're at, I'm guessing it's slipping. You could be at a point that a gear change will help keep the motor in a better place rpm wise too, but that's a different story all together.

I had the same problem when I first built my car. It wouldn't pull on the big end for ****. I called Edge, told them what I wanted to do and they hooked me up. It went from only going 139mph on the dyno to over 160! It is a turd on motor now but it's perfect on the bottle.

Defiantly sounds like a converter issue. Have you had it on a dyno? That would tell the tale pretty quick.

I researched that quite a bit a while back and everyone was agreeing that if you coat the pistons, you need to coat the chambers too. At least in a big nitrous or FI application. They said that if you only do the pistons all the heat will be pushed into the chamber and make it more prone to detonate. These weren't your average joe's I was talking to about this, it was very experienced builders.
I'm not disagreeing with you because I've never tried it either way myself but it does make sense. Are the pistons in your all's motor coated but not the chambers? If so i take it you haven't had any issues?
Please explain, I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences with that.

It will still absorb heat, just not as much as it would without the coating, just like the pistons. The way I understand it is that if you do one of them and not the other then the uncoated side is gonna have to take more of the heat. If that is the piston then it will be more prone to melt, if it's the head then it will be more prone to detonate. It makes sense but maybe it don't matter as much as people might think.
Hell, neither is coated in my engine and I haven't had any trouble and believe me, it has seen some abuse.
