Ours is completely untouched as it came from GM with 100K miles on it. I do believe rod bolts have been acceptable in the past , but, not sure about other stuff you mentioned. I still have my doubts about whether or not rod bolts are beneficial or not. This is the third completely sbe we have put in 9.50's or quicker and no issues with bolts. As far as ring gaps , heat is what gets you in trouble there so as long as you run a good fuel, correct timing, correct N:F ratio, correct heat range plug I don't think you can get enough jet in one to cause issues there if you stay on top of the other stuff. Tuning errors usually gets most sbe before anyone really finds the hp limit of parts.
