Default Some opinions on this plug.

Here is a little info on the setup. Engine is a 408 LSx based engine. L92 heads ported by Tony Mamo@AFR, victor jr intake, holley 950hp carb, front mount dist, edelbrock Performer RPM plate kit. TH400 trans, 9" rear end. 32* total timing locked in. We put 82/82 jets in the plate. Should be somewhere around a 185ish shot according to the jetting chart with the kit. It picked up 301rwhp with 10* pulled out. 5.5 fuel pressure. Would like to get a couple opinions on the plug from the run. We swapped the plug prior to the pull, made the pull shut it down pulled the plug. I know the fuel mark will be light due to only one run but is that around the correct position for it and for the timing mark? To me the timing looks a little low but should actually be a little to much for the power. The fuel looks correct but wuld like some more opinions. Here is is:

Pull 2* out and the timing mark will go back a lttle on the safer side and maybe the fuel will show up a little.

82 jet is more than 185 shot for sure !! 250-275 roughly.

What plug are you using? I would have at least a #10 in there.

Damn it.... this is on a dyno

What kind of dyno?

I'd say you want to not see a timing mark on the plug at the dyno and want to see a little fuel on the plug before I went and made a pass with it.

Time = Heat
a 3 second dyno pull makes ALOT less heat than a 9 second pass.

That was on on a #7 plug, so pretty damn hot for the shot and was only a 3 second dyno pull. He said he is putting 9's in it and trying it again at the track. I def. would take timing out for sure.

ya.... like 6* and only make a 1/8th mile hit to make sure its OK.

If you have that timing mark in the picture at the 1/8th it might not make it to thru the 1/4 mile.

with a 3 second dyno pull its probably not loaded right. But from that plug I would pull 5 degrees out and put a ngk-10 in. The plug is hot and thats not with 9 seconds of run time on it. It looks just a tick lean but im not holding the plug and able to put a scope on it. that tunup will melt the tip on a full pass with those plugs.

A square tuneup at 5.5 with no color just doesnt make sense in my mind. Is something covering up or?

Wayne/Shiz its on a Dynocom dyno with a heavy *** roller compared to a Dynojet. At the top of the run the A/F was getting pretty rich in the 11.20-11.50 range.

We only had the -7s in it because we were only planning to hit it with 175. We had know idea that the jet map was SO FAR OFF and the car would make 300 WHP with the smaller jets. If I had known it was going to do that we definitely would have had some -9s in it for sure and probably about 15* of timing retard. It caught us all off guard thats for sure which is why we only made one pull with that jetting. I was too scared to do any more pulls with those plugs and this shitty fuel we were running.

And we won't be making any 1/4 mile passes anytime soon if ever. We are 1/8th mile racers!

Yeah whats crazy is that Edelbrocks website says that 82/82 isn't even a 200 shot.

Hot *** plug will hide it some ...same as a too cold of a plug will show some fuel.

Those A/F numbers seem more in line with a square jet tune up at 5.5psi
the plug looks lean and hot = wrong plug ..... I know you know that just putting it out there for the newbs that dont.

Same here, all of our races are 1/8th mile.
