Default what does nitrous do for you?

I see where we have the fastest list up top and where people do hp gains on nitrous but, I wanna know what nitrous really does for u.
Brief description. Weight, trans, cubic inch, shot. What does it run n/a then on the nitrous?
I like to see how big of gains people get on the track.

Gerneral rule for 11 second and above cars is about 1 sec in the 1/4 for 100 hp shot.
I gained .8 on a 100 shot over my best time and a full seccond for the same night.

I had a thread about this same subject when I was getting ready to run my truck on juice and most people were very close to the 1 sec per 100 hp.

In short nitrous being sprayed in my car gives me a "raging semi."

In all seriousness though a few months ago I ran my car in the 1/8 mile. I made 2 passes that night. First pass was on motor and I got a 8.37 at 84.xx mph with a 1.9 60'. My second and last pass I ran on a 100 shot and ran a 8.21 at 91.xx mph with a 2.0 60'.

I thought to gain 7mph in the 1/8 is pretty dang good and should be good for right at 1 sec et. at a 1/4 mile track. I was pleased.

Thanks for the replies. My car hasnt quite performed on the kit yet like i think it should but theres more in it. My car usually runs 6.6 to 6.8 on motor at 100 to 102.
On 63 jet it has been 6.3 @ 109
On 73 jet (only 1 pass so far) 6.2 @ 113
3300 lb
I am switching to a standalone to get the constant octane to make it easier to dial in.

Just curious, could you give a simple breakdown on your best NA 60fts vs your best 63 and 73 60fts. I mean you picked up 13mph in the 1/8 so the power is there.

with the little bit that i've got to test/race with my car this year it picks up quite a bit

about 6.30 @ 115mph on motor and so far about 5.6@ 137 on the kit; still a pretty small shot and still working on the suspension alot.

One of my problems is the 60 ft lol. Still runnin a nissan irs (q45)
N/a 1.49 average best 1.41
63. 1.49 60ft (grab kit around 60 ft)
73 (only made one pass) grabbed kit 80ft out or so 1.50 60ft

I know that the 60ft is a lot of my problem. And i know i need further tuning on motor and way more track tuning on nitrous but the car best 1/4 pass was 10.5 @ 131 it picks up 30 mph n/a on the big end and i just dont know if thats right for it? I mean i feel like 100 is slow mph 1/8th.
I havent had any good passes on 1/4 track yet on juice.

565 BBC - 14:1 CR, .036 nitrous jet in the fogger 3300lbs... looking to go 5.15 before year is over. this is a nitrous motor.... thats why its pretty lame on motor.... not to mention a tight as hell converter.

hahahaha I love that a 36 is a small shot. time to let her eat on dual 36's

for the op, the quicker you get it in the more you will pick up, the first sixty foot is real important for momentum. I think thats the way to word it. haha

next trip to the track it will have 40 jet in it... as long as nothing looks funny we'll keep going with the jet... hopefully we'll be able to flow all the solenoid has (.053 jet will cover the square area) and have to get bigger solenoids.
