Default Custom Diamond Nitrous Pistons arrive and you wont believe this!

After waiting on custom Diamond Nitrous Pistons for 3-4 weeks while my motor sits at the machine shop they finally arrive. I got a commitment from the builder for delivery of the completed motor this Monday and my Mechanic for the re-install for the same week. The car has been laid up for going on 6 weeks so I'm pretty excited. Anyway I get a call from the Machine Shop on Monday to say when they went to prepare the pistons they had been machined for only two of the three rings! They had to be shipped back to Diamond for re-machining. Right in the box was a ticket saying inspected by ........ I cannot believe this kind of thing could happen and now I'm into a 2 week delay again! I don't know what the normal experience is with Diamond but I cannot say I would recommend them after my experience. Anyone else have bad experience with this company or am I just the unlucky one?

Sometimes stuff happens when you build racecars. That is pretty far out though, I'd be upset.

Ouch, I've had good luck with Diamond and their customer service in the past, but that's a pretty bad screw-up.

I'd bet the person who inspected those pistons is having a hard maintaing there job. When he went to inspect the pistons he opened the box to complete his inspection and came to the conclusion that "Yep, they do look like pistons to me". lol Sorry to hear about the delay man. Good luck in the future..

unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have had issues with them and i have had good dealings with them. i haved used them because when they do the job right, they have a very nice piece.
i waited 6 weeks for a set that was suposed to be 2 weeks, got them and they where wrong. (wrong ring groove size) used them anyway just got new rings.
got another set for another motor and they didnt ship with pins
got another set for another motor and they where suppose to have a 7cc dome and they where flat top (cut the heads to get compression instead)
but other then that i have had good luck. lol

Default Screw ups do happen but it's all in the recovery!

Thanks for the encouragment everyone. Pistons were driven to the Airport on Monday, July 26th for shipping back to Diamond which is about a 7 hour drive from where I live, although it is across the border. If I have them back by today or Friday I'm ready to forgive but if not......XX%%##!

While I am waiting we swapped out the stock kmember with a nice Spohn unit, installed a new B&M Rachet shifter (just because the stock one wore out) and had the valve covers and intake painted body color (sunset orange).

No track times with the NANO and Drag Rims/Tires but ran a 10.96 last year with a really fat jetting on a 200 shot and a terrible 1.78 60 foot (129 mph). I'm aiming for mid to low 10s this year...if I ever make it to the track! WISH ME LUCK!

Well I had a issue getting mine they held the pistons while they were getting the ring cut why I have no idea. They could have sent the pistons so the machine shop could have honed the block then the block would have been done cleaned and ready for install. That si to much to ask I guess. I guess I am glad I did not have a missing ring groove. Sorry to hear.

Sorry about your luck, every big company will have an issue from time to time, what they do about it is what matters.

I've only used Diamond with all my motors and never had a problem one. Sorry to hear you had this issue.

they took FOREVER to send me a set of pistons. By the time I was done waiting on them, I would rather had just run a set of off the shelf versions.

I guess it was worth the wait for some pistons that withstand the kind of power required to trap 177mph with a LS1!

I waited 3 months for a set of custom pistons from them only for them to be the wrong bore diameter.

Its just a 150 shot. LOL the pistons and coatings were awsome after tear down still looked new. even the coatings were good. as for the 177 it helps wehn it traps 155ish on the motor.
