Default Is 150 shot to much for a SS4000

I'm curious if 150 shot is to much for a ss4000. I've shot 175 and 200 on a 4200 converter in a few mustangs I've had. I'm still trying to learn about these LS1's. The car is a 98 Z with LS6 heads/intake, Torquer V2 camshaft, Diamond pistons and 3.73's and the usual bolt ons. Thanks for the help guys

the ss is a little different then the pt (that obvious or they would not mack them) but the ss is set up a little " loose" you could say and isnt the best for spray, but it works ok. we are spraying a car with 100-150 and its ok. not perfect, but ok. check your slip numbers and just be sure its in the right range but you should be fine, just might not get 100% of the performance you could get with the right converter

I'd like to stay with a 4k that way it would run good on motor to. I'll most likely start with a 100 and then go to 150 depending on what it runs on 100

I had 3.73's, 315's and a SS4000 and a 150 shot that did not jive together. I was on the limiter 100ish ft from the stripe. I went back to a SS3600 and it works a LOT better, still a tad loose. I put some 28's on it and it works rather well now.

yea, the car we run with the ss has 28" tires on it. runs about 130 mph so far (only made 2 passes with 150 shot and fat as hell)
but with 26" last year and 100 shot it was just before the limiter

Talk with yank. I worked with him on my stall. He will go over it with you and hes very clear about his opinions.

I do think noyzee has it right. It will work ok depending on your shift point, but will not be optimal.

Best thing you can do. Yanks is great to deal with. Down to earth and right to the point. On top of that he makes a great product.

I thought the SS was tighter than the PT, do I have that backwards?

I know its not the same converter, but I sprayed a 150 on my Circle D 4C+ and it was way too loose for the spray. It was a 4300 on motor and 6000 on the gas. I am picking up new converter tomorrow. I had it brought down to a 3400 on motor and around 4k on the spray. I have always heard a tighter converter works better on the spray.

I have a SS4000, I got H/C/I and N2O. I can only spray up to 100hp shot as it gives me a 800 rpm shift extension. If I go to the 150 it just blows through the converter.
