Default N2RacingLS1's Survives 260'+ Bumper Drag on Dry Nitrous

Updated 2/13/11 in post #29

I thought I would post here for folks wondering if a 5177 NOS dry kit works. I have used this kit for 7 years with no problems at all! With the stock engine no internal mods at all the car went 7.32 in the 1/8 at 3,650 lbs on a 75 HP shot. With the new engine it has gone 10.18 ET 1/4 mile time on a 75 HP shot of nitrous and 9.95 ET 1/4 mile time on a 125 HP shot of nitrous at 3,300 lbs. Hope this helps someone that may have questions!

We went to Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY Saturday November 20, 2010 and had a very good time.

1st pass off the trailer was a shake down pass, I ran a 10.774 ET at 124.34 MPH with a 1.444 60 foot in the right lane at 1:15 PM.

2nd pass after some suspension adjustments I ran a 10.628 ET at 125.20 MPH with a 1.408 60 foot right lane at 2:45 PM.

3rd pass coming right back to the staging lanes ran a 10.677 ET at 125.08 MPH with a 1.444 60 foot left lane at 2:53 PM.

Then I put the 125 HP Nitrous tune in the car and the jets and had some big time wheels up action!

4th pass I adjusted the suspension for the nitrous setup and went 9.953 ET at 133.12 MPH with 1.332 60 foot right lane at 3:55 PM. Video attached! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Hr-wRzOl4

5th pass I tightened the front shocks two more clicks and went 9.964 ET at 132.91 MPH with a 1.427 60 foot right lane at 4:26 PM. Video attached! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IraZB7u9-IY The most interesting number is the 1.427 60 foot time because that appears to be on the back tire instead of the front tire!!

Enjoy the videos!

seems like a lot of power for just a lil nitrous, especially at that weight. what else is done to this car?

No secret here the engine was built using a new 346 CI block with forged internals and a very mild cam, 11 to 1 compression, with AFR heads and FAST intake as a pump gas engine setup for NA racing. Check out my thread 3,000 RPM launch photo under the 10 second heading in the drag racing results section it has the complete effort to date! I installed this engine in the spring of 2007!

The one and only time we took the car to the dyno was in the winter of 2008 after installing the new injectors and fuel pump getting it ready to run nitrous and it put down 400 HP to the rear wheels NA. The best NA time of 10.53 was done on 26 inch tires and on 11/20/10 it matched its best NA ET on 28 inch tires of 10.62 ET so I knew it was time to see if I could surpass my best nitrous pass of 9.98 ET that I had achieved at MIR and the car did great!

If you have any additional questions after you check out the other thread let me know!

I got the bottle refilled and it only used 3 lbs. of Nitrous for 3 - 1/8 mile 75 HP nitrous runs and 2 - 1/4 mile 125 HP nitrous runs. Seems pretty cost effective! Hopefully we can sneak it into the 9.8's with the same jets!

Wish me luck! I will keep everyone posted!

Here are the results from Saturday 12/11/10!

I did not get into the 80's but it was sure fun trying for it!! The car produced several new PB on 125 HP dry nitrous shot with a DA of around +1,200. We had a very good trip for our last one of 2010. No doubt with a - DA it would run in the 80's on the 125 HP jets!

Now it is time to update my sig!

Enjoy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxuJjpjNOW4

Carter01 thanks for the props! It was a fun day for sure and we enjoyed meeting up with you and racing for the day! Your car is getting it done for sure and I think you got the tune figured out pretty good. Your next purchase should be a rear dragbar and you will see a difference on the next outing. Look forward to racing again with you soon! I will slid over and check out the stuff on the website you mentioned.

BadManLS1

Thank you for posting the videos the first one was where I was checking the front end adjustments to make sure it was ready for the nitrous. That helps a lot being able to see it from that angle!

Thanks again!
